Today I listened to Elysium for the first time since 2012...

And it still disappoints. Part of the frustration is how insanely good the first two tracks are. I remember listening to Leaving and Invisible at the time, and thinking 'oh yes, here comes a worthy follow up to Behaviour'. And then it all goes a bit odd, with showtunes and lounge pop. And I still cr...

Re: Question : Neil Tennant album in NME?

Ahh, Neil talking about the 'electroclash club scene'. I bumped into him more than once in the Ghetto in the early noughties. One particular time he was slurring his words like he'd swallowed a load of barbituates, to the point my friend took his drink off him and said "I think you've had enough" at...

Re: Electric boxset £500 brand new - be very quick!

There was an issue with early production units which caused a delay, as the whole thing went back into production from scratch after some amends - I recall NT talking about it

perhaps these are the first, early rejected batch?

Re: New EP in April: Agenda

A friend of mine who is not a PSB fan at all messaged me a few days ago with: 'have you heard 'on social media'? i really love it' utterly unexpected - i wonder if they could hope for any airplay with this track? as the only track with a 'proper' video that decent money has been spent on, I would as...

Re: Expectations

To the people who prefer Elysium over Electric... that's fine. You are entitled to your opinion. But here is a fact: Electric sold twice what Elysium sold, and received vastly better reviews (source: metacritic). And, like it or not, sales are a pretty good barometer of whether people think a PSB a...

Those were the exact star ratings the site is reporting to google search results

Re: Expectations

People talk about Elysium as if nobody liked it at all. Sure Electric scored reasonably high.... it absolutely deserved to. But as a star rating.... the difference between Elysium and Electric is 3.5 vs 4. Half a star difference. And Super, which many Electric proponents hate, scored quite well. ht...

Re: Expectations

In that case they should give up entirely. They both only spent 3 or 4 weeks in the charts. Super beat them both. I assume you're talking about the UK chart? PSB sell 90% of their albums outside the UK. Electric sold better than Super, and both sold better than Elysium, which is by a significant ma...

Re: A third project with Trevor Horn?

the fundamental album sounds warm and majestic. super sounds tinny compared. There is something catastrophically wrong with your sound system or headphones if you think Super is 'tinny'. You can call Super many things, but 'tinny' is not one of them. Nearly every track kicks a decent, weighty punch.

Re: Years and years & PSB

"it's still being decided who will take that one"

= PSB want to release it on their next album as PSB feat. Olly Alexander
and he probably want it the other way around

who gets to decide if they've agreed 50/50 writing credits?

Re: A third project with Trevor Horn?

er, Price is more expensive than Horn. Much more expensive.

They pay for the album production with touring revenue - they can afford it.

But Horn hasn't produced anything decent in well over a decade now. He has nothing left to offer them.

Re: Expectations

Apologies for interrupting your discussion but I agree with Drico. Who gives a f*** if they use an orchestra or not. I just want killer songs, well produced and faithful to their electronic roots. Electric and Super are right up there with the classics, particularly Electric which for me is better t...

Re: Return to Royal Opera House

I'm coming all the way from Montreal, Canada for this show. Going to be my first PSB show. Can't wait :) well, you couldn't ask for a better first show everything about the ROH performances in 2016 was utterly stunning - it's a huge production in a beautiful, atmospheric space with great acoustics....

Re: Return to Royal Opera House

Didn’t see the email until an hour ago. Tried getting tickets and they tried to charge me £561 for 2 tickets in the stalls. There is absolutely no chance I’ll pay that much. At least Dick Turpin wore a fkin mask. Shameful. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/pet-shop-boys-inner-sanctum-by-pet-shop-bo...
