Re: Sleep of Reason - Mark Springer/Neil Tennant/Sacconi String Quartet

Just listened to Neil contribution to the album. Not the sort of thing I'd naturally listen to but the vocals give it certain familiarity for want of a better word. I can see myself drifting off to sleep with this, and then have the TT track as my alarm in the morning, that would get me out of bed ...

Re: The Hidden Cameras “How Do You Love? (Pet Shop Boys remix)

Greetings,

Crazy that on the same day 2 PSB remixes can be released that are polar opposites, this one top notch classic PSB effortlessly taking the original track to another level and the other, yee Gods what were they thinking! I wouldn't be at all surprised if the TT track was suddenly ...

Re: New PSB remix of Tina Turner

A Tina Turner track that really should have remained undiscovered. I find the backing track and vocal track really jarring together, it simply doesn't work, like a shite mashup. I'd really like to hear it without Tina screeching all over it!

Re: Best middle eight

More than a dream has an amazing middle eight! And if I remember correctly, Neil and Chris called it their “Belinda Carlisle” moment! 😎

Indeed they did, on the Yes Commentary where Neil's pop knowledge lets him down:
Chris: She (Belinda) didn't sing Heaven is a Place on Earth did she?
Neil: No ...

Well honestly, I love it. It’d make a great track if revisited and fleshed out, especially after hearing the Nathan Jay remix;

Re: The inevitable post-Nonetheless album tier list thread

Had a chat with copilot earlier, it's changed it's mind (much as I would if I tried to list best to worst)

(me) list all pet shop boys albums from best to worst

(Copilot) Sure thing! Here's a ranking of Pet Shop Boys albums from best to worst, based on various sources:

Actually (1987)
Behaviour ...

That particular interview is often seen as the beginning of her downfall so he might not be that bothered!

Re: Ranking the Nonetheless era songs

For me the extras/b sides knocked the main album out the park. Taken individually I feel the album is greater than the sum of its parts, it flows wonderfully but only the lead single really sang to me as an individual track. This list is based on the main/final mix (factoring in remixes or demos ...

Parlophone will keep those up their sleeves for when the Boys finally stop releasing new stuff for whatever reason we daren't talk about.
