I'm not sure about commercial success, but I always consider "I'm not scared" one of the greatest PSB songs. Almost everything about it is perfect. I was so glad they played it on the Electric Tour, even though it was a short version.

Re: Genres/styles employed by PSB

Electronic pop music and its branches basically. They have a few songs that can be considered britpop, rock and even indie rock ("I didn't get where I am today"), but that's about it. You can also rememeber their Latin influences, though it's still pop music (except "It always comes as a surprise" w...

Re: Interesting how PSB are not "connected" by "Alternative Music", according to Wired Magazine

I'm not sure Pet Shop Boys should be on the Alternative diagram, though they certainly have influenced some of the alternative bands like Suede. The Human League were quite an alternative band at the dawn of their career. Dunno about Saint Etienne, never listened to them properly, but they have to b...

Re: Do You Want A New Bitch (Misheard Lyrics - Merged Threads)

"Trembling ass, your dreams came true..." (Can you forgive her?) "Dance music at the days go" (Hit music) "I've been good and I've been m ad" (King's Cross) - I've never really heard "bad" there as it's mentioned in the official lyrics. These are the first and the most unnonsensical that came to my ...

Re: Nightlife: Unrequited Love and a Desperate, Euphoric Descent into Camp

While there is not a single Boys' album I truly dislike, "Nightlife" is my least favourite record by them. Its concept seems great in itself but the realization is a bit strange and uneven. As a majority, I suppose, I almost adore the first half with the exception of "Happiness is an option" (which ...

Re: Reissues project

"Playing in the streets" isn't marked as a demo. Finished track then. It's even more ridiculous after realising that.
"Radiophonic" demo is fantastic, 80s meet 90s.

"No excuse" sounds like it should have been on "Disco 3".

Re: PSB and autism

I'm pretty sure Chris is Aspy.
Can't say the same about Neil but he certainly is a bit autistic too. Some of his lyrics' themes and the way he explores them are autistic.

Re: Depeche Mode Live versus PSB Live

As a live band Depeche Mode now are far superior to what they achieve in studio. They have this rock attitude to their gigs and they are charismatic enough for it. The energy they give to the audience every time is astonishing. I don't think you can argue about Dave's vocals being better than Neil's...

Re: Leonard Cohen

"Songs of Leonard Cohen" is probably my favourite album ever. Words cannot describe how great this man was. Actually, Cohen got into "techno" (in the broadest sense of the word) because of a relative (son, or son-in-law, I think). The close relative obviously knew Cohen well, and they got into a dis...

Re: Brixton Fridge 1984

All the other sources I've seen give the same information about set list. 'One more chance' and 'West End girls' were certainly produced at the moment, no doubts. 'I get excited', if I remember correctly, was planned as a single, so chances it was properly produced and mixed are high. Using Bobby O ...
