Re: Smash - The Singles 1985 - 2020

If I remember correctly the 3 CD version of PopArt didn’t count chart-wise. Not sure whether the rule has changed since then.

Re: Berlin, 11/06/22

If the crowd at Berlin's Warschauer Straße Arena is anything to go by, then the music plays forever. Here, a stone's throw from the Wall, Pet Shop Boys triumphantly and imperiously returned “home”. The fragrant Further away, in brand new Dreamworld merchandise, and the flagrant me enjoyed an evenin...

Re: Choose the classic that you think could have been the best option to win Eurovision

None of them. It wouldn't matter if The Beatles had reformed especially to do it. It's not a song contest, its a political popularity vote, and the UK has shot itself in the foot on that score. Nil points. Either that or the UK entries have been awful and bland. This year's song is quite pleasant, ...

Re: The songs that could have been

Surprised no-one appears to have mentioned the ravey end of Go West where you get about 2 seconds of 'Do you feel it' or whatever as it fades. Good thread by the way.

Top tune. Funnily enough in the charts at the moment on BBC Four's re-run of TOTP.

Re: Albums played live

I think it's a great idea. Suede were mentioned earlier: they did three 90-minute gigs with a particular album running for 45 minutes, then hits afterwards. And that meant a different set list on each night. PSB could easily do the same: Please has four big hits plus 2 divided by 0 and Why don't we ...

Ageist and racist, telling Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac they were too old and to go back to where they came from.

Re: PSB at the BBC

Is it just me or have Neil's vocals been polished in some of the live performances? In the Can you forgive her? TOTP performance his live vocal genuinely sounds like it has been replaced by that in the song itself. Same with the live performance of Opportunities in the Whistle Test.

Re: When you stop liking the music as much

I think it's part of the growing up process and the ever increasing responsibilities that you are likely to have, and suddenly there are fewer opportunities to be an out-and-out fan who bounces around while listening to Very like I did as a teenager. Back then I couldn't imagine not listening to the...

Re: Single versions

Among those single/radio edits that are merely shorter versions of the album tracks (as opposed to having additional production), there is a subset of very disappointing ones. These sound not just edited to be shorter, but mutilated without adding any value whatsoever. Hate them. Some examples: Thu...

[quote=Nickname post_id=597488 time=1592314120 user_id=136 I don't agree with most of what you said, but it's only your opinion so that's fine. But you can't say Burning the heather doesn't have a bridge. Maybe you should listen to the song a few times before casting judgement. Where did I come from...

Re: Heaven 1991: Was it worth it?

Taken in isolation Was it worth it? is pretty average at best but somehow I think it works at as a final track because of its theme. I think it also depends on how you listen to music as a whole. Is it just a couple of tracks at a time, on shuffle, a playlist maybe? If I listen to PSB it's nearly al...
