Re: Nightlife - time for reappraisal?

The best thing about Nightlife came 18 years later and it's the Radiophonic demo which I'm listening to as I type this. Bloody wacky and brilliant. Probably the best of the unheard tracks released that year. I just listened to the demo for the first time. It's bonkers, like a sibling of The boy who...

Re: Nightlife - time for reappraisal?

It was my favourite PSB album until Electric arrived. Perfect sleeve, perfect design, perfect costumes, perfect shots, perfect videos, perfect singles selection, perfect remixes... The only one dull track for me is The only one. I would have switched it with Ghost of myself, which suited the theme b...

Re: 10 years of Electric

For me Electric is the sound of a band running out of ideas. It's part of their "lost in the wilderness" years alongside Elysium. It's the opposite, actually. They reinvigorated their career with Electric with a collection of new soundscapes. Listening to this album you can just feel how ...

Re: Catalogue 2 or Catalogue updated

Great news, and also interesting to note:” Newly reconfigured into a literary format, this revised and expanded edition now chronicles the entire visual output of Pet Shop Boys from 1984 to 2024” so I assume it will include the new album artwork and maybe coincide with its release. I wonder what li...

Re: Titles of two new PSB songs

Not only Geowayne has PSB dreams. I do too occasionally. Last night I dreamt about finding a PSB record of some sort which I hadn't seen before and it contained two new songs: Thousand mice crawling Time I wrap my hands around this thing Perhaps I should send to Chatgpt and the further on to a voic...

Re: 10 years of Electric

Shouting in the Evening is the only weak spot. Is anyone fussed about that song? Maybe it's the most divisive track in Electric. But usually they keep this kind of tracks for their b-sides or side projects like Relentless. To have it as an album track in a main album was refreshing, for a change. E...

Re: 10 years of Electric

My favourite PSB album alongside Please and Introspective. Exciting, liberating and invigorating work of art, specially this late in their career. A masterpiece. A total surprise after Elysium. Before Electric I just thought they didn't have "it" in them anymore. How wrong I was. Vocal jus...

Re: Catalogue 2 or Catalogue updated

Catalogue is probably my favorite PSB item. It's beautiful, comprehensive and interesting. A expanded edition would become too heavy and uncomfortable. Unless in the revised version they reduce the diversity of materials (maybe sticking to cover artworks and videos), thus lowering the amount of page...

Re: Smash - The Singles 1985 - 2020

At first I didn't think it was necessary such a release but it has been fun to revisit to some of their singles that I hadn't listened to in a while. I like the chronological order and how they keep evolving but still recognisable.

Re: The Guardian ranks Pet Shop Boys’ "30 greatest songs"

Personally I don't see the appeal in such a list. It's just some random person who's mentioned 30 PSB songs they're aware of. I literally haven't clicked the article. I guess people here enjoy the observations and remarks on each track but personally I see near-zero value in the journalist's opinio...

Re: The Guardian ranks Pet Shop Boys’ "30 greatest songs"

Quite an interesting list that shows their solid body of work throughout the years. As in any list I would switch positions and add other personal favourites, but they really chose songs that represent the versatility and uniqueness of PSB. Also there's at least one song from each album if I'm not m...

Re: DREAMWORLD Greatest Hits Tour 2022 and into 2023

A fantastic night in Rome last night. Just a couple of hours before start time and torrential rain and a huge thunderstorm made a cancellation look likely, given Auditorium Parco Della Musica is open air. As I had flown out from the UK this was a worrying prospect. But thankfully the skies eventual...

Re: Noel Gallagher PSB Remix.

Maybe the unreleased remixes are better. This sounds pretty pointless. Not Noel enough, not Pet Shop Boys enough... Just in the middle, rather generic and playing it safe.

I attended yesterday's concert in Barcelona. According to Shazam the intro music was Babel (Maceo Plex Remix). Pretty epic.

Re: Poll: Do you think ‘Paninaro’ will be played on Dreamworld tour?

They did play Paninaro at Primavera and people loved it more than other well known hits. There were many people singing along during the chorus.
