Re: MCMLXXXIX - 30 Years

The '89 live rendition of Paninaro is probably the best version of the song. Main riff sounds much more emotional than in the studio mix. But I can see why they didn't like much of the footage: it was a lavish production and on film it looks cheap.

Re: Of course it might just be me........

...just like New Order did with Music Complete. Super could've been a double-album, wonder why PSB never dared to issue a double album. If PSB want to do 3 minute pop they should give their songs to biy/girl bands to perform. ^^ This! Music Complete was one of New Order's best albums in ages, and t...

Re: Of course it might just be me........

Been listening to Madonna's latest tonight - very brave and experimental, massive work by Mirwais on crude vocal distortion. Some stompers as well, but most of it pretty downtempo and un-pop. I wonder if PSB can really step out of their house/techno comfort zone in such a way, especially with Price ...

Re: NY Times article: MASSIVE master tapes loss

The NY Times article is important to many of the artists or relatives of artists potentially impacted because the music and other material lost in the fire was allegedly underestimated at the time. There have been similar examples in the UK, such as Virgin which stored some masters in less than opt...

Sounds like Coldplay around 2005. Anyway the music's not the point.

Re: NY Times article: MASSIVE master tapes loss

2008? This isn't even news. 12,733 words and 77,603 characters. A bit self-indulgent for a news article. I'm not reading it. While there's some slightly off-topic element in the article (like the usual, annoying mediatic uber-reverence towards The Beatles), the core is quite a deal. The author assu...

Re: NY Times article: MASSIVE master tapes loss

Seeing as they went through their archives for the Further Listening project, I doubt PSB have a problem. Masters are probably in the UK too. Hopefully PSB do own the masters of their recordings. Having said that, UMG "preservation" methods described in the article are nothing short of shocking for...

NY Times article: MASSIVE master tapes loss

(Moderators: feel free to move this thread to OT section if necessary). Get ready for an absolutely shocking reading. If what's reported is true, it's likely we'll never hear again any trace of unreleased music from dozens of music giants. The Beatles masters are mentioned as safe, but do we know so...

Re: Of course it might just be me........

The fact that they didn't announce the new album along with the Hyde Park show (unlike what happened with Super and ROH shows) makes me slightly pessimist about a September release. Hope I'm proved wrong though.

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Hyde Park Sep 15th 2019

If this didn't coincide with the album launch I'd be very surprised. Does sound like it will actually be quite a neat event by all accounts. Hearing some less obvious PSB tracks could be good, although that doesn't necessarily mean they haven't been played live already does it, so a lot of it could...
