Re: Hotspot Limited Edition

I’m a bit irked that they made the regular album available for pre-order and then a few weeks later make the deluxe album available for pre-order. However, I’m thrilled that we’re getting instrumentals.

Re: Clever lyrics

It depends what you mean by clever really - its very different from ‘best’ I’d say HCYETBTS is clever as is Yesterday, when I was mad and also Being boring and IMMEAL, the latter 2 being both clever and amongst Neil’s best My favourite lyrics tend to be more beautiful than clever, and I think Burni...

Re: Clever lyrics

My three that spring to mind are:

West end girls
My October Symphony
Casanova in Hell

Really it’s impossible to just choose three though.

Re: Word paiting

There’s a thunderclap or at least a gated reverb or something timed with the snare drum in Domino Dancing when Neil sings “I hear the thunder crashing”.

Re: The New Album Info Thread

Planning on sharing the album with the rest of us Effen? Not a chance, sorry. I feel very lucky indeed to have early access and I've only managed that through my job, the last thing I'm going to do is bite the hands that feed me. Hope you all understand. poor What the hell is the matter with you? E...

Re: The two ways of singing the chorus of West End girls

That’s a very interesting observation. Musically Neil’s singing the D note instead of the G above it. I suspect it’s laziness or perhaps he simply forgot?

Re: Burning the heather

One question: 'And where I am bound, no one knows'... In your view, does this simply mean that the narrator in the song doesn't know where he is going after he's had his drink - whether he'll go home, or perhaps stop at the chip shop? It’s none of the above. It means the narrator has been kidnapped...

Re: Burning the heather

Neil’s already said what the song’s about. Listen to the 6 Music interview.

Re: Burning the heather

It’s such a shame that it’s yet another song let down by muddy production. It should sweep and soar, the sonics are all there, but they’re pinned down and buried beneath a busy fudge. I'm hoping that it will sound better -- cleaner and crisper -- on CD when the album is released. It sounds pretty g...

Re: Newly-scanned Very-era interview with Pete Gleadall and Bob Kraushaar

I wonder why there wasn't a reference to producer Stephen Hague whom both Pete and Bob would have reported into on the production of "Very" in this article...strange. Are there any Stephen Hague interviews on "Very" that any one knows? Pete looks very different, doesn’t he? They’ve worked with him ...

Re: Burning the heather

Will-o-the-wisp....total Kate Bush! Am particularly intrigued as to what this one sounds like or is actually about. Total speculation on my part and probably completely wrong, but I wonder if the song is about Kenneth Williams? Although just reading Wikipedia it says "In literature, will-o'-the-wis...

Re: Burning the heather

It’s a warm, well-crafted song with interesting lyrics, but clearly not one where they were chasing “that ecstatic moment” they’ve often spoken of. I’ve already played it more times than I did “Dreamland” when that came out. I particularly like the drums and Neil’s vocals sound good, not thin like t...
