Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

Track 2: West End girls Chronology: Please, Track 2 There is a lot of furtive, creeping around in the shadows on Side A of Please. If anything, the tension of Two divided by zero is even more insidious in the subversive West End girls as we find ourselves lurking in the darkness of a cityscape that ...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

The title now feels like a comment on their own inseparability. The urgent, dramatic plot and theme of escape is a keynote. I love the instrumental middle 8 - the synth line with those descending chords interacting with the strings. Another taster of the classic PSB sound. Stephen Hague brings a re...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

The train announcement is at Victoria station and is the 14:27 Epsom Downs service calling at Battersea Park, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Common, Balham (almost inaudible), Streatham Common and presumably all other stations to Epsom Downs, via West Croydon. Accentuating my earlier point ...

Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

This thread is for daily discussion of a Pet Shop Boys track, selected in chronological order, from studio albums starting with Please – including Further Listening – to the new album. The idea is to allow a 24-hour period of discussion for each track – then we move on to the next one. The first 11...

Re: Next Single

I still don't understand why they wouldn't of delayed the bluray until they had all the videos Blurays are a bit of a novelty and the reason to fork out extra might be to collect all the videos. Can't imagine most people popping in a Nonetheless bluray to listen to it. Maybe they'll add the videos ...

Re: Next Single

So we´ll be getting the same b-side (in a remixed form, but the same song) in two different official UK singles? I think that never happened before... Well, I'm not sure it's quite as weird as Did you see me coming? being the second single from Yes in June 2009 - nearly three months after appearing...

Re: Next Single

Superchumbo has a bad rep around here - for good reason, in my view - but didn't he also do a rather excellent mix of Up and Down back in 2009?

Re: Next Single

I was hoping we would get two more b sides for the next single but it may well be remix-heavy. Might just be the Bowie song. At this stage, I'd be content with one more proper b-side. The alarm bells started to go off when Superchumbo popped up again "after many years." Maybe Neil saw him...

Re: Next Single

On the next single? Disappointing news, if so, as it will be taking up valuable real estate for another b-side.

I like Party in the Blitz, but it's already been a b-side on the current single. Maybe they'll put it on an extra disc...

Re: New Single - Loneliness

With Loneliness making the Top 10 in some UK charts, there has been some discussion if Loneliness is a hit single. I’ve always had the opinion, if it’s not the official chart, it is not a hit. Some of you maybe aware from another thread, that Loneliness features on the latest Now that’s what I call...

Re: Your Instant Classics

Yes, Will-o-the-wisp is my most recent instant classic. Of all of Hotspot's Berlin-related soundscapes, this is the one where Chris truly channels Fritz Lang in creating a rollicking serotonin-fuelled romp on the tracks of Metropolis. Living in Berlin, I felt the much vaunted "Berlin sound"...

Re: Nonetheless - Blu-ray

Who still owns blu-ray players? Huh? Some of us still own recorders, let alone players. I've never left physical media. Streaming is convenient - that's it. It's never yours to own, is subject to the whims of prevailing social mores ("whose work should we cancel and delete?"), the availabi...
