Re: Reissues project

Erm...I don't think that's a remasterers job to do - more like a complete re-mix of the tracks original stems. It's their job. Mix engineer listen to the track and he understands what the track loses. It seems that every instrument is so important and it deserves the same volume level and attention...

Re: Reissues project

What (and at what point) is the bad edit in the 'Further Listening' version(s) of the original 'Opportunities' 12"? I've never known what it is listen out for.

Re: Expectations

Dictator Decides meets Brick England type of album would mean a few sex wee's. This. Brick England is the best song from the Super era, and I've discovered a belated love for Dictator in recent weeks - great ominous plodding pace and dark chords. That's what I'd love from the new album - with one o...

Fantastic interview with Pete Gledall, highlight of the book. Really interesting to read how he sequenced the tracks for the 1989 tour.

Re: Introspective 2018 CD Remaster reviews

Did they fix the triple bit glitch on Don Juan (disco mix) at 4:52 that can be heard on the 2001 remaster? No. But I’m not sure that is a glitch, I recall someone posting that this was an intentional edit and not a mistake. Can’t recall what thread this was in. The point is, that bit is different t...

Re: Reissues project

So, have they remastered the 'I Want To Wake Up' version from the first release of 'Actually', or the alternate take used for the 2001 remaster? You can tell by comparing the vocal ad-lib at 4:21. See https://www.psb-catalogue.com/backcatpic.htm: "Neil's singing [ad lib] at 4:21 is different to the ...

Re: Reissues project

Alternate mixdowns made at the time the original album was first made - artists often make two or more final mixes of the same track, and decide which version to put on releases later. Not uncommon for the wrong mixdown to be used when old (two channel) master tapes are dug out for remastered editi...

Same as the alternate version of I Want To Wake Up on Actually 2001 remaster with different vocal ad lib at end.

Re: Reissues project

Yes remaster is ruined for me by having a different version of Love Etc to the original album (beat doesn't drop out in 2nd chorus), so it's the original album everytime from now on. Same as the alternate version of I Want To Wake Up on Actually 2001 remaster with different vocal ad lib at end. Won...

Re: Reissues project

I wonder if they even have all the unreleased mixes (the leaked ones by Arthur Baker of In The Night and Paninaro ones by Ian Levine for example) at hand or whether they are deeply hidden away somewhere? Ian Levine Remix of 'Paninaro' recently appeared on '12 Inch Dance: Indie', here: https://www.a...

Re: Reissues project

I imagine that some of the old stuff might need a bit of mastering too (not that that should be too difficult) but I see no reason why they can't get this done. Mastering remixes made by others might be a challenge as the individual stems might not be accessible. For example, do they have the femal...

Re: Reissues project

My ridiculously obsessive mind wonders if Farrow will tidy up the tracklistings to match the other 2017 releases (where * is previously unreleased and ** is previously unreleased on CD) and whether they’ll address the issue in the 2001 booklets where some photos were back to front... Technically, n...
