Re: Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live At The Royal Arena Copenhagen

Neil's voice sounded good but often not meshed with the music. Yes, I was thinking 'at least Neil's vocals sound good' (I assume there was some post-show re-dubbing of the audio) but the vocals in the mix sounded separated from the music somehow – as Remark says 'not meshed' – I wonder what the tec...

Re: Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live At The Royal Arena Copenhagen

The screening at my local cinema in Sydney last night was about two-thirds full (in the small theatre, that I'd previously just been in to see obscure documentaries). It's been 10 years since the last actual live concert by PSB here, so I was really looking forward to this experience. I had a great ...

Re:

I've noticed there are some younger posters here lately and they might find it hard to believe that PSB actually had to "code" things then. It wasn't all right to be openly gay when PSB started, but they got it across in videos in ways that still surprise me by their subtlety. I'm not tha...

Re: Australia

Like I said in the other thread, today I was offered a press ticket, airfares and hotel room for the Saturday show. Would've been great cos it's my birthday on Friday but my partner has arranged for us to go away on the weekend and it wouldn't be right to do otherwise. Initially, I wasn't able to a...

Re: I was at a wedding reception with Chris Lowe on Saturday

My music teacher at school was Chris Lo (rather than Lowe). I remember playing him the single of Always On My Mind when it was released, and he had the school choir perform it at a concert. :)

I love this clip of outtakes from a German TV show, where they are gossiping about other pop stars etc:

Re: In The Studio Footage

As I remember, there is audio of them working in the studio in the 1996 radio documentary "About Pet Shop Boys". The main thing I remember is Chris being anxious that they finish up at the studio in time for him to watch that evening's instalment of Coronation Street on TV.

Re: psb producers

just wondering if producers (ie Andrew dawson) gets a percentage of sales from the albums they work on? Interestingly, in the Sound On Sound magazine article about the recording of "It's a Sin", Julian Mendelsohn mentions that he and Stephen Hague "swapped percentages" when it c...

Re: RIP Eric Watson

Sad news.... was it Eric Watson who married Karissa - Neil's friend from Newcastle who inspired the song Bet She's Not Your Girlfriend ? I think their (Eric & Karissa's) baby was in the It's Alright video. That baby must be in his / her early 20s now.... I can't remember where I read this - can ...

Yes, I'm sorry you didn't make it, Racie.

Spooky - RBT is Random Breath Testing - that is, the roadside testing of the breath of drivers by police for alcohol content.

I certainly didn't notice it at the gig - I thought Neil's vocals were very good on the night, except (as someone else has pointed out) for a few difficulties during All Over The World.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR, WATCHING PET SHOP BOYS FROM SIDNEY

Glad you had a great time Docoboy. The people around me shouted stuff like "Just play West End Girls and get off". "For god's sake, play singles" - while Love etc was starting up. And when Neil paid tribute to Dusty "Who the hell is she? Never heard of her". Talking th...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR, WATCHING PET SHOP BOYS FROM SIDNEY

It was like trying to party in a car park. While I agree with the "party in a car park" comment (I gather that ticket sales were just a fraction of what the promoters had hoped for), I have to say that I enjoyed the evening very much. It was great to finally experience the Pandemonium con...

Re: Oh babe, why don't we do it now?

Yep, this is a thread about one part of A Man Could Get Arrested. I just find this part of the song so euphoric. I love the chord change and melody of G Bflat F G - GG Domino dancing Eb. The Aflat7 and B flat then Gm works so nice. It's just one of those moments that make PSB great. IMO I agree, it...
