Re: Piano Room Month - 2024

Well they look happy and lively

Agree the arrangement of Loneliness was terrific

I could think of a hundred more suitable songs to cover than Dudes - but oh well, no new fans made there I’m afraid

Re: Your bet for main single of "Nonetheless"

Don't know about lead single - tend to agree with Gabby's points. Wasn't Loneliness a late addition to the album? I am 100% certain they will have "stronger" tracks that become the reason people spin it on their record player... if that makes sense. But Loneliness is the lead and opening t...

Re: At home with the Pet Shop Boys

Reading this thread is like a lesson in not judging too quickly Steve Wright was not too famous outside the UK, so I only really read about him here... I was about to cancel him in my mind, but now listening to the interviews uploaded by agent doris (thank you) it's clear it's not so black and white...

Re: Piano Room Month - 2024

Pretty Things would be ace, but it's quite a wordy track.

It feels like a very relevant track though with all the changes in the world lately.

Re: Piano Room Month - 2024

I'm intrigued. Cannot hear Neil singing any Bowie song from his Best of 2CD

Maybe the Man Who Sold The World, or maybe Modern Love.

David got away was so much drama in his vocals, not many artists can cover the songs without reigning it all in.

The Laughing Gnome?

Re: Lead singles ranked

OK I was feeling bad for rating it so low as a lead single (to be fair, I quite like all of them!) But as an album opener, it does much better from me... Album openers 01. Left to my own devices 02. Being boring 03. Will-o-the-Wisp 04. Love etc 05. Two divided by zero 06. Loneliness 07. Home and dry...

Re: Lead singles ranked

Oh dear, I am putting it last  I still like the song, and it's a tough list for it to contend on - but I am probably looking forward to the ballads more than anything. 1. Domino dancing 2. Love etc. 3. Home and dry 5. So hard 6. It’s a sin 7. Opportunities (let’s make lots of money) 8. Can yo...

Re: Oversexualized video

Why show oral sex in a music video about love? It's not going to affect the audience for the better. My interpretation of the explicit sex scenes were that the person was doing it because they were lonely. The struggle against loneliness / That's tearing you apart I don't think the boys are on a pr...

Inaccuracies aside, it's quite a loving piece.

It could easily of gone the other way with Chris not taking the call :)

Re: Pet Shop Boys in today’s Guardian

Btw your aspersions about those who oppose genocide are bizarre and suggest you haven't genuinely engaged with the issue. Incorrect. You're the one projecting onto others. If you want to accuse people of being pro-genocide then you bloody well need to back it up with proof. Not once have you yourse...

Re: New Single - Loneliness

I think Loneliness is ok. but then again I have always been an album track type of person over singles. I tend to like the Luna Parks or Sad robot world type tracks on any given album over the "singles" Well, you're only human - and Luna Parks is a terrific and irresistible track! They're...
