Re: Nightlife - time for reappraisal?
The best thing about Nightlife came 18 years later and it's the Radiophonic demo which I'm listening to as I type this. Bloody wacky and brilliant. Probably the best of the unheard tracks released that year. That’s what I was saying earlier in the thread. There’s a brightness and momentum to the de...

Re: Nightlife - time for reappraisal?
Sorry for the dumb question, but which of the tracks on Nightlife do people actually regard as the ‘ballads’? That's a good question! I personally was thinking Drunk, Only One, Boy Strange, Footsteps For me the definition is slow(er) tempo romantic songs. I love their ballads not only for the soft ...

Re: Nightlife - time for reappraisal?
Well each to their own! I find the Rollo opening number incredibly dated and verging on boring, but still don't mind it. Price did a far better job with Electric, so I'm glad he got the whole-album task and not Rollo. All the ballads are terrific to my ears, but In Denial might of just stayed in the...

Re: Nightlife - time for reappraisal?
There isn't a single PSB album I don't enjoy and NL is no exception :) It has a unique vibe in their catalogue. However FYOG is a track that today I find too lumbering and kinda blocks the start if the album for me. It's more a dated Rollo production than a PSB track in some ways. CTH is fantastic. ...

Re: Smash - The Singles 1985 - 2020
nice summary Oznerol
Is it just me or does Single-Bi sound much richer?
I always found the mixing of that album a little muddy to my ears (which actually works in some ways, becauses it's a delightful mixture of an album).... But now that single sounds quite polished?

Re: Analyze Always on my mind
oh wow
I think innovation is in the eye of the beholder to some extent. Half those bands you listed are interesting but arguably innovating in their own ways - not dissimilar to PSB.

You could be very well right, TallThinMan. I just always read back in the 90s of how innovative their sounds were, but that could of been uniqueness in curation.

Alot of these characters fly over my head on the forums. Except nickname, he's unmissable
Definitely some Monkey Business going on. The prospect of a new album is like a full moon for old fans.

Wonder if those samples are taken off purchasable libraries of the time? Chris was known for unique sounds though.
Kinda ironic to see this - because wasn't Send Me An Angel often misattributed to PSB on Napster?

That's a nice callout from Sting.
Love The Police, their vibe holds up so well. Only know a few Sting solo songs though. In Australia "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" is played regularly as a radio theme tune

Re: Top 10 of most succesful PSB songs (Spotify, Youtube, charts)
I guess one thing is length of time tracks have had to rack up engagement. Love Etc hasn't had nearly as much time as Imperial tracks which may of been uploaded years earlier. It might not matter in the end, but it's still a factor. Not surprised New York city boy is on here. As PSB fans we have ide...

doubt he wouldn't play new stuff without Chris being there?
