MY CHRISTMAS TOP 50 (IT INCLUDES PET SHOP BOYS) - The full chart

#1 Post by nickname » Sun 10 Dec 2017, 2:17 pm

It's Christmas and I'd like the forum could take part of it with Christmas music, I know it's not only PSB but PSB is part of it.

This previous year (2016) I created a Top 50 of the very best Christmas videos (according to me). I sent the links to my relatives by phone (bit to bit). According to them, it was very enjoyble. I'm going to include more songs in previous days to get the Number 1. I'd like to know your opinions about it, follow this chart. Please, keep this thread on the forum (PSB is included).

These ones are the first positions:

1 - The Florin Street Band - My Favourite Time of the Year. (Leigh Haggerwood is a contemporary composer based in London. He has created many songs for TV shows. A huge fan of Christmas music, he wanted to give the old success of Christmas songs back in the charts, starting to fed up with the usual X Factor winners being #1 in UK charts for Christmas. He created a song with not too much money called "My Favourite Time of the Year". A modern track with an old school feeling. He could go to the Trevor Horn studios in Sarm West and recording the song with many musicians Friends and the end the song had a Little radio play un UK and all over the world. Anyway, the track never reached #1 in UK but it's the NUMBER 1 in My Christmas Top 50 chart. Amazing Christmas song and not very well known).

2 - The Piano Guys, Peter Hollens, David Archuleta, and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir - Angels We Have Heard On High. (This is really amazing, time for The Three Kings or the The Three Old Men, call them the way you want. The idea was to try to call more tan 1000 people to take part of this video, calling them from YouTube. The project was called #sharethegift. The atmosphere of this video is really touching, warm and really spectacular, wait until the end of it. You don't need to be a religious person to enjoy with it. At the end 1039 people went there to take part of one of the best ever Christmas videos).

3 - Robbie Williams & Ant and Dec - White Christmas (The best selling Christmas single of all time with one of the funniest moments of Christmas TV. There is another previous version of this sketch on Spanish televisión before Ant and Dec did their versión with Robbie Williams. It's obvious they are big showmans and you can only rolling over the floor laughing with this. If you never saw before, do it!, you'll have a really good time. You can enjoy with the original versión of the song, the big classic of Bing Crosby. This is the last video of this list inspired on TV shows).

Bing Crosby:

4 - Leigh Francis (Avid Merrion - Bo` Selecta!) with Graig David - Proper Crimbo (An amazing video, the imitation of the MJ's Thriller is amazing, the track is really cool, "in crescendo" and really fun. I love it. Leigh Francis at his best. It was released in 2003).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqBF7TiyATo

5 - Mariah Carey. James Corden, Adele, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Chris Martin "Coldplay", Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani "No doubt", Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc - All I want for Christmas is you (It was obvious the most famous Christmas song nowadays was to be included on the list. Don't be worry, no more Karpool Karaokes on the list but I wanted to included this because it's great to be sung along with this crowd of top artists. You can watch the original video too and even one with a transcription in Spanish. You can fed up with this song because of the massive exposure to it but it's obvious we are talking about one of the best festive songs of all time).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxcb3LjtQRY (traducido)

6 - James Corden, Reggie Watts, One Direction, Stevie Wonder, Iggy Azalea, Rod Stewart, Carrie Underwood, Jason Derulo and Justin Bieber - Joy to the world (I became a Christmas songs fan listening an old show called "Plasticos y Decibelios" by Julián Ruíz in "Los 40 Principales", going into the car to my aunt's house and listening a chart of 40 Christmas songs. That's why I love Christmas songs and I love Carpool Karaoke from the Late Late Night. At that time, PSB was planned to take part of it but they refused go to the show. I don't know why, the "Always on my Mind" video was a kind of Carpool Karaoke, hehehe. I love gospel music and when everybody gets crazy listening to it. The rhytm of this video is great. Happiness feeling and many pop/rock starts taking part of it. They are not singing very well but it's so entertaining)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4BSHpl_bWw

7 - Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the tree (One of the best Christmas songs in recent years. Like a young brother/sister of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" with the classic Phil Spector spirit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM2Fnp_qnE8

8 - The Darkness - Christmas time (don't let the bells end) (One of the best music Christmas videos of all time with a retro sound. Good hard rock. From the creators of "I believe in a thing called love". Entertaining and funny music video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQhuoY5h2kE

9 - Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band - Merry Christmas baby (The warm personality of Bruce Springsteen gives us a really good feeling. For a strange reason I imagine him like an uncle driving a van on the road the whole year, finding him back at home only for Christmas time. Drinking some beer, having a good time, being a party man. This song is really good, classic American rock and roll, not a bad thing really)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi9kvO2zL2E

10 - Peter Kay (Geraldine McQueen) - Once upon a Christmas song (It's very easy to go the classics and give them high positions on this particular chat but there are very good Christmas songs and catchy tunes to explore and many of them have been created for TV. This one came from the parody of talent shows "Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice" was written by Peter Kay (Geraldine McQueen) and Gary Barlow. Not a very well known track but it's so catchy that you can sing it "all over again". The quality of the video is quite good and I rate the song and the video too).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kmPz5IbU90 http://dai.ly/x7ud1s

11 - Pet Shop Boys - It doesn't often snow at Christmas (I think PSB has created one of the more catchy chorus of its career, really good, but I'm not sure about the verses to be honest, the arregments of the EP versión are clever, it's obviosly a gem)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwug42mOZ9I

12 - Billy Nighy (Billy Mack) - Christmas is all around (Billy Mack: "Come one Mickey, you know as well as I do the record is crap", you can say it's a joke changing the word "Love" to "Christmas" but anyway, I love the track, I love "Love Actually" and I'm a big fan of the character of Billy Mack)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fmf3D9oNn4

13 - Chris Rea - Driving home for Christmas (it's easy to create a Christmas classic when everybody it paying attention to your career but Chris Rea is not a big famous singer and this song has become a classic becaus itself, a really warm song with lovely melody, yes it's a Christmas classic)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THcbQyFtCqg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDt3u2Ev1cI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czhZbqpyBm8 (aid of shelter)

14 - Günther and the Sunshine Girls - Christmas song (really hot video and amazing electro-pop song, if you want to watch some bobos, this is your video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pszvhW4-f9g

15 - Wham - Last Christmas (a real classic from "Wham", the best selling single in UK not being Number 1 because of Ban Aid)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdBF5seCfwg

16 - The Killers, Elton John & Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) - Joseph, better you than me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uW8oEWfuEIg

Listening to the Gents album now. Somehow I hadn't heard of them despite being fellow danes. However, I'm really not keen on his voice. I think I'm gonna have a hard time getting over that, but I will give it a couple of spins.
