PSB to play the Closing ceremony of the Olympics

#1 Post by Mr Madness » Tue 03 Jul 2012, 6:52 am

Apologies for yet another new topic but Winner was played on the Janice Long show on BBC Radio 2 in the early hours of this morning. Before it was played, Janice read out a text she'd recieved from someone from the band of the Irish Guards who said he'd been busy rehearsing for the closing ceremony of the Olympics with "Blur, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Pet Shop Boys".

Maybe Blur and the boys can get together and do Boys and Girls?
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

We should be thankful (and proud).
They seem to do just the right, and many great things, this time: They please us and the mass audience & they show a lot of effort to give their fans and themselves some very special moments.

They could just release Elysium and retire almost invisibly, but they dont. Thank you.

I was born in a hospital room with green walls, the doctor who delivered me wore a green overall, so did the nurses hovering around. So much greenery around, its no wonder that it is my favourite colour !

London 2012 Closing Ceremony: Some More Details

As announced by the London 2012 Organizing Committee (LOCOG), the responsibilities of the Closing Ceremonies of London Olympics 2012 have been trusted to top British creatives.

Kim Gavin, who is the leading choreographer and creative director, is the Artistic Director for the Closing Ceremonies of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Kim is famous for his creativity in many Take That shows and performances. He also has the critically acclaimed 2010 Circus tour to his credit.

Es Devlin, who has won multiple awards for stage and costume designing, is the Designer for the Olympic Closing Ceremony.

Great news, but isn't the opening ceremony a much bigger event? I didn't even know there was such a thing as a "closing ceremony"...

of course, the opening ceremony is "bigger",but the closing ceremony is much more emotional and have the same effect as the opening, milions of people watching it

The closing ceremony is pretty important because it's about passing the torch on to the next host.

Hopefully that will involve a bunch of hot babes in bikinis.

Both the opening and closing ceremonies are big events... and they're usually (IMO) pretty dire too.

If they are doing it with Blur for the closing ceremony, that'll be the big Hyde Park concert. SOOOOOOO glad i got tickets now. The Specials would have been special to see, New Order are just going to be superb (even without Hooky, whole seperate topic there!) and i never thought i'd get to see Blur live again, but if the Boys are now involved too...... I believe the phrase from "ver kids" is "Oh Ma Dayz"
is is and isnt isnt
