Re: At Rock Bottom (snippet)
One issue I have with this really nice track is,like so many PSB songs that has a really catchy chorus, they always end it too soon. rather I wish they would keep it going alot longer and build it up more.
Re: At Rock Bottom (snippet)
I wonder who Neil wrote this about? Curious.
Here are the lyrics:

At rock bottom
Everyone talks about
their loss and the legacy
Sharing condolences
and offering sympathy
But at rock bottom
what got him?
It's all about
It's all about
It's all about
It's all about drugs
One day when we wake up from
the media reverie
and think about
how hard it was
and also how heavily
he hit it
It shot him
We're all at
rock bottom
It's all about
It's all about
It's all about
It's all about drugs
And that means
that someone
was lonely and in pain
Couldn’t deal with it
or even try to explain
It's all about
It's all about
(It’s all about love)
It's all about
(It’s all about love)
It's all about drugs

More than a little bit, I thought it was actually a sample on first listen !Synthrobot wrote: ↑Thu 06 Feb 2020, 9:15 am Those little synth organ stabs remind me of Let Me Love You For Tonight by Kariya.
Good song.

Could be referencing Kurt Cobain ("It shot him").
A book came out on the 25th anniversary of his death in March last year which I'd imagine would have been roughly around the time Neil was writing.

Re: At Rock Bottom (snippet)
when I first heard the sample of it, I later found it misleading. the sample implied a somewhat typical lush PSB chorus..so I suspected the intro and verse parts would be accordingly like it.....which isnt the case...the verse parts are very different than the chorus.
its like 2 different songs shoved together. I imagined something a bit more like David Bowies "this is not america", the chorus is essentially the same chords. I have come to love Rock Bottom, but like "into thin air" and betrayed, I feel like they kinda chose a drum loop that is a bit too busy for the pretty tune.
