You Are The One - Birds
You Are The One - Birds
Does anyone know why the PSB or their team chose to put bird sounds at the beginning of the track?
The end of Will O Wisp (Last 15 seconds) feels a little tacked on just to blend in better with You Are The One. Personally I feel that last 15 seconds was not needed, and the bird sounds would have worked just well. But I digress, does anyone have any information about those bird sounds and why they exist on the track?

"every bird in the sky's a performer
A tingle-tangle, chittering and chattering
By the fountain, spluttering and splattering"
I dont know but it is interesting. maybe it was a special part of a special day for neil and he added the imagery in the song. but heres to hoping for one of their awesome track by track interviews! maybe he will talk about that. I dont mind them. I do however hate the muddy sounding bells at the beginning of "wedding in berlin"

"Driving down to Zehlendorf
Lie by the lake
on a summer afternoon"
Neil mentioned in a couple of interviews that they love Berlin in the summer, that it is very green (especially for a big city, and that it has lots of parks and lakes there. Bird sounds belong to that in the summer

"It's like a drug
It's like a dream
A European film
we could have see"
Sorry, there won't be any insights from me about these lines, I just like how both replies above starts with quotations from this lovely song so I decided to join this improvised flashmob ...

"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."

Not sure why the birds are on the track, but I love them. It reminds me of Summer.
Don’t be scared, for only the dark can show you the stars
Re: You Are The One - Birds
Probably due to the fact the verse 'every bird in the sky's a performer'
You got a heart of glass or a heart of stone?

You can even hear the wings flapping when he says "then taking fliiiiight". Very nice touch. I'm all for these scenic sounds, especially since the birds get an entire verse to themselves

They’re not birds at all. It’s the sound of electric cables from the train/underground. A very familiar sound if you’ve done a lot of traveling/commuting (as I have). They said that they had recorded a whole train ride. I’m almost certain it’s an isolated recording from that.

Are you... okay? The sound of trains is leading into the birdsong in track 02.

It's a metaphoric sound for love. Don't we say you hear birds singing when you are/fall in love?
