I would guess that they will be ok because of their back catalogue.

I'm sure there are many many artists / bands on the label who sell nothing like PSB in terms of catalogue. As we saw with the Potemkin show in London last summer they are also still able to generate a fair amount of column inches in an extremely crowded market - this won't have gone un-noticed.

If they do get dumped they'll simply sign with someone else or release everything themselves.

They are a low-cost, low-maintanence act who consistently sell 1m+ units of new studio albums globally.

There is NO WAY they would be dropped. They are a music companies ideal act - there is no commercial risk and a guarenteed 'minimum units' from any new studio album.

They are the most successful duo in pop, and I believe, one of the biggest acts EMI has ever had. There's no way that they are going to be dropped!

Couldn't EMI drop them and still make money from their back catalogue?

I agree though - I think they are safe. They don't require a lot of money to be 'launched' because they are already established, and every few years they deliver an album that will sell relatively healthily.

No, when PSB re-negotiated their contract in the early 90's, they got the rights to their back catalogue. If PSB leave EMI/Parlo, they take their back catalogue with them.

Anyway, PSB are not doomed, EMI is a major label with tonnes of domestic acts in every country in the world. There's a plethora of acts to drop.
Does cameos only.

Besides, if worse came to worse and the PSB did get dropped by EMI, as Zeus said, they own their entire back catalogue, so they would be an attractive "catch" for a rival, or even a smaller record company.

Which died years ago. Besides, Spaghetti still needed someone else for distribution. Same as Cheeky Records (Rollo/Sister Bliss) does with Polygram.
