Roskilde Festival

#1 Post by oso70 » Fri 03 Jul 2009, 4:40 pm

Am I the only one going to Roskilde tomorrow?
Now that you can buy one-day tickets, I would have thought many more fans were going.

You can hear (at least the first hour of) the concert here LIVE:

Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest magazine in Finland has Roskilde blog on their main site:

"Yesterday was an excellent day of music. According to the band list the feast of best pop in the world continues today. Next in line: Elbow, Amadou & Mariam, Lily Allen, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Fever Ray and the evening ends with the best band in the world, the Pet Shop Boys. I feel like crying out of joy already."

Yey for that!

It is VERY, VERY unlikely, that DR/P3 is going to broadcast a live PSB-concert from Roskilde.
I really hope they do, but please don't get your expectations too high.

Danish Radio is S... :wall:

Last weekend, the BBC did broadcast hours and hours from Glastonbury on tv.
In Denmark, we're lucky to get a few tracks from the Roskilde concerts on the radio.

I love my satellite dish.

Well they did!! But, amateurishly, they had apparently not secured their rights so we missed the first couple of songs. But what we heard was pure genius! I loved 2 divided by Zero, Why don't we live together, Do I have to, King's Cross, beautiful....sad that they couldn't go beyond 2 AM but I guess that should keep me looking forward to 2 New York and 1 Atlantic City shows....

There are now a couple of vids on Youtube:

It's a Sin
Go West

No flying boxes at the end of It's a Sin.. just as I guessed. Might have been a hassle to do the full visuals in Roskilde.

Is the set list exactly the same as the 'normal' concerts?

Looks like it was pretty much the same but we only got to hear the first 40 mins....
Reviews are pretty mixed, with national paper Politiken (but they're always quite negative....) giving it only 1/6 whereas Soundvenue is ecstatic and gives it 5/6. The other are more around 3-4/6.

Apparently so, rather oddly.

I would have thought that they would go for more of a "greatest hits" type of set list at a festival, but there you go. I can't see a festival crowd being excited by Do I Have To? somehow.
Prick up your ears.

Dipso is right, for festivals they should play thier biggest hits, the setlist of this tour is too much for die hard fans. :grumble:

It's called "Closer To Devices"
