Greetings,

Weird commercial, but unexpectedly ace to hear PSB in such a capacity.

Retro. :)

Remember this song was quite known in US. It was a Top 10 song by the way. It appeared also in one episode of The Simpsons (like West End Girls did).
It's easily one of their ten most famous and culturally significant songs.

People, like yourself, often get carried away with chart positions, but Opportunities was hugely central to their image and early manifesto: it got them misunderstood by those who didn't understand, and allowed those that did to imagine they were in on some arch secret. Though it was successful commercially, it is an example of one of their songs whose impact far exceeded its chart impact.

"I've got the brains, you've got the looks, let's make lots of money" summed up both an age (of avarice and aspiration) and them (as playful, mischievous storytellers). It's a classic. Between this and It's A Sin, we're currently living through a wave of PSB appreciation.

I don't typically care much about chart positions but I'm finding this interesting. Are any of the Best Of albums charting as well? Any other vintage songs?

Opportunities at number 36 (again) in UsA iTunes. West End Girls, Always On My Mind and WHIDTD are all in top 1500. I hope they keep broadcasting that commercial for a little longer.
