The muppet could be Gordon the Gopher - he as was on Going Live. (Those were the days). I haven't got round to seeing it yet though. PSB's were on it quite a few times. :)

I think the muppet is Phillip Schofield.

How bizarre that they were on at Christmas 1992 with nothing to promote. You can see why they wore the hats for Can You Forgive Her?

I remember this very clearly, I think it shows the amount of respect that they had at the time. As Philip said, it wouldn't be Christmas on Going Live without the Pet Shop Boys.

I’m pretty certain they were also on the 88 and 89 Christmas episodes of Going Live. I’ve got fond Christmas memories of the excitement of breaking up from School, my Favourite Band always being on the Christmas Going Live, and of course Xmas day.

I doubt it - Neil was in his mid-thirties so far too old for Schofield.

What are you suggesting, that Philip preferred boys of Rent age?

WTF just because Philip Schofield is gay, he might have had a relationship with Neil? What is the relevance of either of their sexualities to the video posted?

Always thought Neil was a bit mean to Belinda.

I didn't mean any malice by this, I simply meant that it might have been a reason as to why they were on for no other reason than being on. Neil wasn't "out" at this point and we know that Philip certainly wasn't.

1992 was the Christmas they were supposed to release Go West, before they pulled it and decided to wait for Very. I wonder if there was a prior agreement to turn up on the show that, for whatever reason, they could not abandon. Certainly, the references to not having a record to promote seem pointed.

If Go West had been released for Christmas 92, looking at the Top 10 for that week, I’d say it probably would’ve still gone Top 5.
