"Performance" Los Angeles 30 March 1991-audio released

#1 Post by astrocordoba »

It is great that this arise after 30 years! It is not a fake taken from the "Performance" DVD, it has the "This must be the place" bit after "Losing my mind" and the mix is clearly different, including the audience sound (very nice sound indeed!). It is a pity that it is not completed. I´m still looking for the version of "Being Boring" played in some shows.

Well that same short This must be the place I waited years to leave bit is present on the released Performance too (along with the full song before It's a sin). The real pity is that this LA recording does not include the full song as the release does.

Yes, but with a sound "effect" to show a scene out of the scenario, in the backstage while the dancers changed their clothes...it is a pity indeed that it doesn´t include the full song, I have a bootleg and the guitar arrangements at the end of the song is different. I still wonder if that guitar part in the dvd release was added in post-production...

Speaking of that: I'm still searching for live versions from Discovery that didn't made it onto the video, like Euroboy and To face the truth. I found Streets and Do I have to? just a few weeks ago.
A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

How can you expect to be taken seriously?
West End girls

The concert I would choose to go back in time to attend.

Snap!

And this time I’d be in the front row ... not up in the back tiers of the Birmingham NEC

Looking back we didn’t know what we were experiencing at the time ...
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

Good find. After just knowing the video/DVD audio, it's nice to hear the little variations in, er... performance. A couple of flubs notwithstanding, Neil's vocals actually sound a lot stronger in many places.

The big ear opener is actually being able to hear the mighty JJ Belle's guitar throughout: lending a rockin' or a funky edge to proceedings. I assume by the time they got to Birmingham, they'd told him to wind his neck in, or buried him down in the mix - on video, I only ever noticed his guitar on West End girls (or I just have a rubbish audio set up).
"...Purchase or hire thirty-eight ripe Spongs. Wheel them home, and shoot them. Then simply bake them, and eat them once. The end."

Yes, the JJ Belle´s guitar is very evident in "Jealousy". It is interesting as the arrangement/mix changed when they moved to the European leg of the tour.
