It took me close to a year to track down Very! I'm going to have to find that Nightlife book then, there is not even one listed on Ebay!
I play these regularly in case you wondered. :D
Nice! :D

I didn't know something like this existed. I use to play by listening or look up for some YouTube tutorial.

I found my Nightlife songbook. Also found my songbook for Results. I used to play I can't say goodnight a lot.

Wow, lovely to see, thanks for posting. Do we live in the same house, that looks like my floor :)
I'd love to get those. I'd be playing So Sorry I Said on loop from Liza.
Not sure how For Your Own Good and Radiophonic would sound on the piano, but I'd love to try. I bet the Happiness is an Option pages are nice and white (unplayed :) :) )?

I had a few of these books but are long gone now. I used the Introspective one for posters in the end and the Fundamental one I had some keyboard lessons and tried to do a few parts to the songs. I gave up in the end as my brain couldn't stand it - too old. Anyway, the music teacher I had said that she found some of the songs impossible and didn't know what they did to them.

I still have the Pop Art book - I will keep that one for life. :D

Nice collection Synthrobot! :D When I once went on Youtube it chooses features to watch (the Tv version). I think he was called "Mad Paul". Anyway Mad Paul has videos of himself playing PSB's tunes. 8) I wish he was my neighbour!

That's a great story, some 'oldie' music teachers don't really get electronic music.

I used to have an (older) mate who loves classical music and is a trained pianist. He doesn't know anything about pop music, he had "vaguely heard" of Pet Shop Boys. Before I could play I used to give him a book and ask him to play songs, which he could do straight away which impressed me. What impressed me more was he could sing them too having never heard the song before, now that IS talent. I was once open mouthed when he sang Enjoy the Silence by DM.

He nearly fell off his stool when I got him to play the cantina theme from Star Wars, he thought that was crazy and hilarious.

I wonder who actually transcribes PSB songs into those notes (and also those shown on Chris's screen when he plays onstage).

Taking that literally:

PopArt
(Flamboyant, Miracles, Somewhere, Where The Streets Have No Name) arranged by Pete Tomasso
Music processed by Jon Bunker
The other songs are presumably taken from previous transcriptions.

Fundamental
Music arranged by Derek Jones
Music Processed by Paul Ewers Music Design

Release
Music arranged by Jack Long
Music processed by Paul Ewers Music Design

The information is not available in the other books I have.
I flicked through my Best of Bowie book and Derek and Jack worked on that too with Paul Ewers. Hallo Spaceboy (PSB version) is in that too obviously.

I always found the transcriptions to be of a quite variable quality, even accepting that it’s not possible to transcribe some of their complex sequences for playing on a piano. I always felt the Introspective book captured the spirit and intent of that album well, Behaviour perhaps less so. For example, IIRC the bassline for Being Boring was just straight crotchets, which is clearly nothing like the record!

This arrived today. Hardback. I always loved the song Rudebox, but obviously I bought it for She’s Madonna and We’re The Pet Shop Boys.
