Spotify playlists of Neil and Chris’s favourite records

#1 Post by Dog » Tue 28 Apr 2020, 11:13 am

With time on my hands, and inspired by the new edition of Annually, I’ve put together a couple Spotify playlists compiling 32 years of Neil and Chris’s favourite records, as documented in the pages of Literally and Annually, from the original 1988 "Pet Shop Boys, annually" to the present day.

The vast majority of these records are available on Spotify in the versions specified by Neil and Chris and gaps are few. Where compilations are unavailable I have, as far as possible, sought and added the component tracks.

Neil’s album-centric list clocks in at a weighty 1,759 tracks:

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1f5N5 ... SBje94nEdw

Chris’s focus on singles makes his a streamlined 238:

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3BQFo ... L8OnreyADw

Neil’s eclectic mix of classical, soundtracks and minimal electronica makes for pleasant laid back listening. Chris’s is essentially Now That’s What I Call House Music and it’s awesome.

I thought they may appeal to some of you so am sharing here.
Woof.

That's some nice work there, TC! The amount of tracks from Neil vs. Chris' amazed me, but then I remembered Neil always chooses albums and Chris individual tracks.

You should really send this to their manager as an FYI. I bet they both would love it!

And Chris tweeted about it:

Someone has kindly done a Spotify Playlist of all my song choices in Literally/Annually from the very first issue to the current one. Some great stuff and some not so great! Chris x

I must have bought most of the 80s and early 90s songs on his list, especially some of the cheesy naff ones.
