It couldn't happen here soundtrack album

#1 Post by telys »

What about a soundtrack album to It couldn't happen here, wouldn't it be great.
What if it had been released back in 1988? Would it have made the charts? Would it have been the album to buy to get Always on my mind?
Apparently there was an eleven track promo-cassette released at some point. But there were 14 (8 fr Actually, 5 fr Please + Always on my mind) songs played in the film.
I would've like to hear a soundtrack album with part of the dialogue included, like the crazy pilot manically repeating 'two divided by', 7'' edits of the extended versions of It's a sin and What have I done to deserve this?, the Joss Ackland version of Always on my mind etc.
Would 14 songs have fitted unto one LP?
I think we all agree that Introspective came to close to Actually, the could've waited another year and squeezed more out of the Actually-chart-topping-era.

Just dug mine out only last week. Still plays perfectly too. I won this along with a huge signed cinema poster from Smash Hits at the time.

Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

Yes, it was very limited Telys lol... - being the big PSB fan I am. Whilst, at college in my teens a lad opposite me in the library had a tape of it and oh, my word my eyes popped out when I saw it! In the end (bless him) my Lecturer knew who the lad was and taped it for me. Although not quite the same I was happy with that.

I was ridiculously lucky! I only got round to framing the poster in 2013 and have only played the cassette a handful of times.

I went in for that competition and didn't win a thing. :(

Out of interest did anyone on here win the (I am sure it was) Introspective art work Smash Hits competition? I did once win a VH-1 Montage promotional DVD.

Apparently the video version, which didn't appear on CD until PopArt.

Anyone know if it featured the demo or single version of 'Always On My Mind'? It was the demo version in the movie itself but I don't know which version was on the soundtrack tape.

I have to say I never saw the point of this - as I assume did the boys - in that it's basically Please collides with Actually.

I remember being disappointed that there were no new songs on it at the time.

However, it's an intriguing order of songs now.

Possibly, although looking at Discogs, the version on PopArt clocks in at 5:11, whereas the version on the soundtrack clocks in at 5:30.

I agree that a redux soundtrack might be interesting if an attempt was made to avoid previously issued mixes. e.g. Always On My Mind (video version)

Retro. :)
