Finally got round to listening to this

The remixes are just ok and won’t trouble my best PSB remixes playlist anytime soon

New Boy is PSB in Burt Bacharach mode
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

New Boys is pure early '80s PSB. Wouldn't sound out of place on Alternative disc one.

Love the David Jackson remix number two!

Except for the modern hip hop/trap part at the end.
No music from the 80's sounds like that. I doubt even anything before 2010 has those gangster rap beats.

Your hatred of hip-hop is presented in such a toxic manner, can't help but wonder why. It's a completely valid genre of music, and a drum sound is hardly exclusive to that genre in the magpie-like reality of pop music. Each genre has its own pile of shit in the backyard. Get with the times.

what this song really needs is an extended version of the album mix, what it definitely didn't;t need - as it's already relatively short and throwaway was a radio edit.

It's a pretty repetitive song though... not a lot happens.

I love the two David Jackson remixes! They’ve had me dancing around my apartment, which isn’t an easy thing to do during this troubling pandemic!! :)

I'm baffled by the radio edit. Would it really be any less likely to be played on radio at 4 minutes long, compared to the chopped version? The edit makes an abrupt switch from the truncated intro into the beat--it sounds amateurish. The "Monkey Business" and "Burning the Heather" edits made sense. This one's just weird.

"New Boy" underwhelmed at first but has been growing on me. It sounds like a cousin of "In the Club or In the Queue," but I think I'd rather have an updated version of that. (Whatever happened to the version they recorded in 1999?) But "New Boy" still gets better with each listen, so maybe my mind will change.

Not sure if I’m missing a joke. But the phrase is “get with the times.” Not “get on with the times.” Perhaps you need to also get with the times. ;)

They don’t think In The Club.... is good enough to get released.

Might be an odd notion, but while I’ve enjoyed the original version of the track since Hotspot’s release, the David Jackson remixes have me enjoying the actual melody so much more that I’m now an even bigger fan of the original!!

#1 in the UK Physical Charts
#10 in the U.K. sales chart (the highest peak of all the Hotspot singles)
Not in the top 100 U.K. official charts
