Oh I see...I haven't bought anything DVD related since 2008. Thanks for educating me. Now, some products come with both. I see. Wow! Capitalism!

Agree. I wonder if they are waiting for the extras to be finalized?

BFI are also releasing 'Scandal' in a few weeks. One of the extras is the music video 'Nothing Can Be Proved'. Also, the booklet is for the first pressing only.

I think the same applies for 'It Couldn't Happen Here'. Only the first pressing will have the expanded booklet.

Yeah a bit weird this hasn’t had anything ‘official’ around it. Suppose they don’t want to derail the hotspot bandwagon?
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

Well, this is a side release.
And probably not as high of importance to most people, since not many know about it.

I'm sure they will point it out, once its out.

Extras thus far:

Presented in High Definition and Standard Definition
Limited Edition 48-page Digi-book includes writing on the film by Anthony Nield, Jason Wood and William Fowler
Feature commentary by Jack Bond, James Dillon and Simon Archer (2020)
Interview with Jack Bond (2020)
Other extras TBC

It Couldn't Happen Here (Ltd Edition DVD + Blu-ray)
Directed by Jack Bond

Originally conceived as an hour-long video based on the Pet Shop Boys 1987 album, Actually, It Couldn't Happen Here turned into a full-scale feature film directed by Jack Bond (The Blueblack Hussar).

The first feature-length film starring the Pet Shop Boys alongside Joss Ackland, Gareth Hunt and Barbara Windsor finds Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe on an extraordinary adventure from the coast to London, encountering a curious array of eccentric characters along the way. Pop surrealism meets classic road movie, the film is peppered with hits from the duo's first studio albums, including 'West End Girls', 'It's a Sin', and 'Always On My Mind'.

Never less than fascinating, It Couldn't Happen Here is a truly unique film and one that has sadly been unavailable. Newly remastered by the BFI from a 4K scan, we are delighted to present the worldwide Blu-ray and DVD debut.
Here's the Antony Nield piece.....

Funny how I’m also eagerly awaiting a blu ray release, but at the same time remembering I didn’t like the movie very much. I have it on VHS and watched it five times or so in the 90s, but I found many parts either embarrassing or boring or both. I think the psb could have been in it more, all their bits were very enjoyable.
Yeah my thoughts exactly, it lurches from toe-curling pretension to teeth scraping tedium, often within the same scene (the cod-philosophising dummy seemed to drag on for hours) There are many things wrong with it, but it's a unique document of PSB at the height of their imperial phase. It'll be great to have it on disc - the BFI tend to put together nice packages.

Ridiculous extras wishlist: i'd like an alternate audio track replacing the tinny demo of Always on my mind (& Neil singing badly over the top) with the full-fat version. Remember that being a big disappointment on the first watch - especially as the promo vid was cobbled together from the film...
My fourteen-year-old self rather liked the pretentious side of PSB - the Paradise Lost reference in ICHH was a particular favourite. The film actually reminds me of Jubilee in a strange kind of way, although it's more boring. I have a strong memory of watching it round my friend's house and being (at least) slightly nonplussed by it, and rather defensive of my pop heroes as he liked those antipodal points of cool, INXS and jazz.

Hello...

What are the chances this will find its way to NTSC Region 0 or Blue Ray Region ABC?

There's a chance the DVD and BR are region free, they've released region free disks in the past.

Higher sales due to some websites posting news articles about the release, for example superdeluxe.

The official site must be waiting for more details before promotion begins. I'm expecting other retailers to also offer the movie.
June is a while away, 4 months.
Smarter to announce and promote it later, maybe a week before release or even wait until the day.
Also makes sense to not cloudy Hotspot's marketing.
