This song is the boys at their best - atmospheric intro, moving lyrics, stately melody.
When Neil sings Hello Hello Is Anyone Out There it evokes the 3am feeling of feeling lost and confused so well that its heartbreaking.

Any idea on what the vocodered voice is saying? The only bit that's not available in the official lyrics?
What shocks me more is that the first seven seconds have the "It's been this way since life began" verse in a very distorted, barely audible way. Bowie-esque!
To me it says "falling down".
To me it's formidable joie formidable ah ah (in french).

Gives me hope of an extended mix!

No, that's not the reason why. You can faintly hear it in the first 7 seconds. Just crank the volume up!

Yes, the 'in too deep' spoken bit bubbles away during the first few seconds of the song...

The vocoder - I'm hearing 'stop me going on'....
Firing verbal shots.......like a Tommy Gun

One of the best on the album. I'm also hoping for an old-school eight or nine minute extended mix to expose parts of the track. Hopefully we'll get this as a mix on a forthcoming single.

Ohhhh OK I get it now, thanks for pointing it out... wow that's quite an inaudible bit of lyric!

That second verse. Highlight of the album for me. Pure bliss.
"If Yes were a people, Legacy would be genocide."

Wonderful song. I realised that (for me at least) there are faint echos of Song for Guy (one of the chord changes in particular).
Sorry double post.

Such a shame this was not a single. I reminds me of the Survivors - and it's truly effortless. It could definitely have benefited from being a bit longer.

It's the album highlight.

I made my choices the other day for Geowayne's Hotspot-era Ratings Project and HFaM ranked the highest of all the tracks for me. It's a real lush epic with a "cushioned" atmosphere and soaring beauty.

I've already mentioned that this is a new PSB-classic, if only the whole album hade been like this. Although I'm not overjoyed that it's, apparently, yet another song about Tony Blair. I would've liked it to be a about a person i general, like in Burning t H. There is a mini album on Hotspot about people it seems (Happy people, Will-o-the-wisp, Hoping f a M, Burning t H, I don't wanna and perhaps even Monkey B)

You've got me all wrong
