O man. I am very excited now. Effen, you are a f***ing star for sharing.

Beyond the Imperial era, my feeling is that their latter-day creative peak was Fundamental to Yes. I have enjoyed the Stuart Price albums, but much in the way one enjoys a box of Quality Street, and there are plenty of orange fondants and strawberry delights which I don't much care for. So, in a nutshell, what I've really missed is something approaching an album that makes for a good and coherent 'listen all the way through' experience.

While it sounds like I may want to pull out before marital consummation (fnar fnar), Effen describes an album that might just be listeneable 9/10ths of the way through.

Effen, would you describe it as an album that has a sort of narrative thread? I guess it comes full circle on the 'Love in Berlin' theme... the way you describe the album, it sounds like it has a much broader emotional range than either Electric or Super.

And lastly, why be so silly a la skyhigh last night, eh? We're all grown-ups. If Hotspot is a fine wine, let's not neck it before it is ready to be opened. Plus, we've got an apparently epic B-side, with a remix, to sustain us over the festive period....

Nice to read the first review of the new album. Thanks for that, Effen! :)
A blues would be in B flat, pain defining wisdom,
but the soul is in the high hat, programmed in the system.

Effen, what did you think about the previous album ?

Do you prefer electric or super ? Do you usually prefer ballads or uptempo / dance songs ?

Edit : since Effen said he can't share there were no point in insisting, and it was very nice of him to answer every question.

Thank you. Which songs are the worst on the album?
At the risk of sounding hyperbolic (surely not!), aside from track ten, for me, this is corker after corker. Some I prefer to others, of course, but they’re all GOOD. If I had to choose a least favourite it would probably be Dreamland, but I’ve grown to really like that track, too.
Thank you. I hope there are no songs like Undertow, Pazzo, Groovy or Burn. Super was very good till the track number 6 for me. But Pop Kids, Dictator are brilliant. I'd like to hear something like Pop Kids again on the album.

No, they had a great write-up on Fundamental in 2006

The electric reveal was the interesting one. You’re mistaken.

Popjustice revealed/previewed both albums. I think leesmapman knows which one was more interesting (from his point of view).

The review is back up.

I hope it doesn't overhype you. There's a certain thrill in hearing an album early, like going to a movie premiere, where it's easy for that excitement to translate as EVERYTHING IS BRILLIANT.

I don't think that's the case here at all, but please bear that in mind as you read my thoughts.

Ta.
