It’s quite interesting how big a devide there is on how this song is perceived... For me it‘s easily the best on the album!
Also probably the only one who would attract a younger audience as a single, with Happy people as a close second.

I think it’s a good track, with some clever lyrical touches. The note change on the last syllable of each verse (“guy”, “appeal”, “energy”) is key to the song’s appeal. I understand the Building A Wall comparisons, but as I also like that track too, it’s not a problem.

I also still think that “I don’t wanna” is an awful title and that the song could just as easily have been called “I don’t want to go out”.
Love comes quickly, but is a catastrophe and a bourgeois construct etc.

It's just their little tribute to Madonna, darlings.

I see that many like this track. As I listen to the album, I really enjoy the first 5 tracks and this track just bores me. It's growing on me, but I find the production seems rather underdone compared to the previous tracks. For me it's the weakest track on the album.

The boys obviously like it as it was the track they chose to play off the album on Graham Norton’s show this morning. Next single perhaps?

I hope it is the next single. Best track on the album for me (along with Burning the heather).

I really like this one! My instant favourite on the album. I like that it's a bit old-fashioned PSB, more simple production and a catchy tune.

I agree with CroMagnun... this track shares some DNA with “Building a wall” and that’s an exciting thing!

After listening to Hotspot a few times I have found it to be remarkably consistent in terms of great quality. I like every song on it. But I Don't Wanna is my favorite. Absolutely love the lyrics and the music.

Sequence: I don’t wanna , hear rhythm is a dancer...go out looking for monkey business and spend the night with a one night stand in only the dark.

Funny, I was listening to the album this morning and felt compelled to come on here and write a positive review for this song, only to find this thread waiting for me. I love it. A favourite in our house. Sounds like some of their earlier stuff. Ties third after HFAM and BTH with Dreamland. I've overplayed Dreamland though, I need to rest it.

I love Hotspot. Just a little niggle. As usual the subject matter is a little exclusive. Of course, I'm a fan so I have always loved this and it is the essence of their work However, I almost wish that HFAM and IDW were love songs,. Particularly HFAM, as clever as the lyrics are, I don't really need to be reminded of Tiny Blair as frequently as I'm playing it. Not so much IDW.

I never think of Tony or any politician with Hoping for a miracle

I hear it as a love song ... unrequited I think
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional
