Their first charted single since "Thursday", and their highest charted since "Did you see me coming?".
Note though that we're talking about the "sales chart"... the actual UK chart nowadays is a brothelized mish-mash of physical sales, digital sales and (sadly) most importantly... "streaming"

Yes, but still... "Burning the heather" is the first PSB-single on this chart since "Thursday". That's quite uplifting, isn't it?

Dreamland was #38 on the sales chart.

No, this list comprises sales plus streaming, rather than the pure sales chart Burning the heather has just entered on. PSB will probably never see another entry here.

I reckon they’ll go more in this direction after Hotspot. Self-produced, ballad heavy, guitars. Release 2. Chris has suggested Hotspot is a transitional album - shades of Electric and Super, and pointers as to where they might go next as well. Burning the heather could well signal that direction.

I was half expecting this to be the ‘guitar’ album … we are well overdue one. It’ll come…

I dont see them ever going back to a release style album that is guitar centered. I dont think they liked the response by the fans to that genre of album at all. I think here on out they will just keep putting out albums of different shades of electronica. maybe cyberpunk, dark techno, house etc etc, but I dont see a guitar album.

If Hotspot contains songs that are unusual in structure, and in which Chris is basically 'scoring' a full set of Neil's lyrics, that would be a very interesting direction for the next album...

yeah... the dynamic of their unusual song writing pattern would be changed leading to songs that sound sort of outside the standard PSB song structure. but I think they do that anyways sometimes. for instance Bolshy sounds kind of different structure wise especially with that weird middle section that gets kinda trippy sounding.
