A lot of people will be disappointed if it’s not about the new album...
What else can it really be, though? :eh:
Have a look at my taste in music:

That’s the thing about negative energy, about hatred. It can be positive. It throws into relief all the things you know you like. It tells you, by elimination, what you’re about. Sometimes you can only define yourself by what you hate. Hatred becomes an inspiration; it makes you think, “What I’m doing now I totally believe in, and I don’t care what other people say.” Guided by hatred, you don’t have to follow the herd. - Neil Tennant

I'd bet it's the album announcement plus a new song / single to promote it that might even be out this week. They'll have to play something as it is a music show, and it would make sense for it to be something new otherwise it doesn't really qualify as newsworthy.

Looking on the dark side they might of course be announcing a very long schedule to retirement following the tour. Final album and tour announcement would sell more tickets. They can always stage a return if they feel like it, just like a-ha and countless others.

They are not in the show tomorrow, right?

This could mean, that there are not really important things to announce.

Hmmmm. Twitter post says " major news". Tour dates for Europe isn't major news. It can only be the album release details i.e.: title, track listing, etc. And an exclusive playing of a track that will be released shortly.

But is that major news? It's not exactly that they have been on hiatus for years...

peeps are obsessed with the end of the Pet Shop Boys.

I really don't see them ending anytime soon - they are too busy having a good time. When and if they do make a decision to end it ... I don't see them making a 'major news' announcement in this manner.
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional
