Agenda: Top Three Moments

#1 Post by Drico One » Wed 13 Feb 2019, 8:47 pm

What are your top three moments of Agenda?

There's lots to enjoy, but I am particularly fond of:

1. The Russian bot choir muscling their way to the front in On social media, a wry nod to Go West and Love etc.

2. Neil's celestial, agonised backing vocals as the beats take over in The forgotten child

3. The wonderfully plummy, po-faced diction of "with absolute impunity" in What are we going to do about the rich?

Drico.

1. The lyrics to Give Stupidity A Chance, in particular this line: Instead of governing with thoughtful sensitivity let's shock and awe the world with idiotic bigotry.

2. The appearance of PessimistPug on Social Media, an instant PSB classic.

3. Neil's singing style in What Are We Going To Do About The Rich.

Also, the way Agenda was released as a total surprise with the release of one song per day. That was really special.

1. WTF?
2. Leekebum
3. I.P Freely MP

Also agree about the way it was released. Magic!
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

Oh good, a thread that’s actually about our new EP! Three from me;

Give stupidity a chance
The musical passage before the last chorus. By then the song is totally mad, and to me it sounds slightly insane. I imagine that’s the idea.

What are we going to do about the rich?
The last verse. Brechtian!

The forgotten child
The gear change in the middle, where the music box plays, Neil’s voice is haunting and, on the video, the words ‘Where is the child?’ are held on the screen. Beautiful.
Heaven is possible,
AFTER ALL.

1. Neil's celestial vocals in TFC
2. The head bopping "...2...3...4" after "...the rich?"
3. 2m59s onwards of Give Stupidity a Chance ;)

1. The brilliant, ranty final verse of Rich heading into the lifted chorus.

2. The string melody at the start of TFC, which re-emerges later ... I think it’s underused in the track actually.

3. As per Drico, the Neil-free chorus of OSM, with him then coming back in.
Love comes quickly, but is a catastrophe and a bourgeois construct etc.

Ooh, yes, that string melody is heart-wrenching. Good call.

I also love the final little rap in "rich". I wish the song was set up more with that style as the vocal for verse parts.

the first chorus of "stupid". theres a little horn part that plays something, that adds a little counter melody to neils singing. it doesnt happen again.

I also love the male chants without neil then him joining in "media"

and finally the little vibe part in "child" how it mixes with the building strings.

I'm enjoying all four. I can't believe so many people are negative about 'Rich' - it's a joyous romp!

I agree for this three amazing moments. I would add the moment where the beat stops in rich, and you hear the chorus on a go west vibe. And the drums kicking exactly on the Maximum word and then the trumpets.

1) The rythm track on OSM: bass, drums, house piano, it remembers me of Together: a very underrated track!
2) The instrumental coda of TFC
3) The vocal production on TFC: Neil has never sounded so real, warm and moving
Expressing passion, explaining pain
This is my kind of music
