Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

New York City Boy. I would never play this to anyone. Just horrendously embarrassing. Why they seem to consider this as a live staple is beyond me.

I would pick the songs that I hate most, so:
1. Hold On
2. Metamorphosis
3. struggling to think of a third one..
Have a look at my taste in music:

That’s the thing about negative energy, about hatred. It can be positive. It throws into relief all the things you know you like. It tells you, by elimination, what you’re about. Sometimes you can only define yourself by what you hate. Hatred becomes an inspiration; it makes you think, “What I’m doing now I totally believe in, and I don’t care what other people say.” Guided by hatred, you don’t have to follow the herd. - Neil Tennant

It has to be their version of In Private with Elton John.

I like the original song and the song itself, but this latter day effort sounds like a cheap in-joke or an attempt at self-parody, which is not funny for those who are not in it.

As "New York City Boy" is a staple on these type of lists, I'd instead suggest the following;

1. Absolutely Fabulous
2. If Love Were All- Neil's voice comes across as too thin and it's all a bit luvvie.
3. The Night I Fell in Love- the lyrics are just cringe

Is Absolutely Fabulous officially a PSB track? I guess Disco 2 makes it canon, but I think we can disregard it (the mixes were good though)

lol... We don't mind it and have a good laugh at it when it is played. I agree with some of you about "Hold on". I'm not keen on it also The Former Enfant Terrible.

Nightlife- the song. Thank goodness they never put it on an album. The arrangement is tinny. Neil's voice sounds so.....simpering and thin.
Like a Bee Gees rip-off.

So my first choice was New York City Boy. Incredibly embarrassing. What makes them want to play this in a live set alongside some great songs is beyond me.

My second choice would be Hold On. Listened to it a couple of times when the album was released. Never again. Doesn’t feature on my Elysian tracklist. There is literally nothing I like about it.

Third choice, The Night I Fell in Love. So naff and embarrassing.

I would never play these songs to a non fan.

At their best PSB are sublime. However, there are big chunks of their career that make me proud to be an Erasure fan. I couldn't limit myself to only three songs. Just for starters:
1. The whole Liza Minelli project
2. All of the "Closer to Heaven" musical
3. If Love Were All
4. The night I fell in love
3. Give it a go
4. Hold on
5. New York City boy
6. Boy strange
And that's just the top of the cringeworthy, roll-up the car windows list. It seems after very early on in their career for every "Electric" there's a "Results."
