Would it also be fair to say they are more popular now - or at least more highly respected - than they were in 2001? Back then they were in the nadir of their career but they've had a slew of great albums since. Actually it is frightening to think that more time has passed since the first reissues and now than between West End girls and then!
😲
More 'national treasures' now than before, respected certainly.
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning. :|

Pretty much reflects the quality of the records imho.
I think it reflects the fact that New York city boy is the only song from these records that the general public knows.
Correct. They had their last Radio 1 single during this time therefore it's the last time the great enlightened British pubic were informed it was OK to still like them.

At the time I seem to recall it being ''too gay'' for some radio stations
Live synth pop tracks you might have forgotten about.

I vaguely recall something about the National Lottery TV show thinking that the New York city boy performance - as premiered on Top of the Pops - was too gay for their show.

The National Lottery show was presented by Dale Winton.

I'll just leave that there.

Excellent to see three PSB albums in the UK Top 40 Albums chart! I finally got my copies of the CDs from Amazon last night and really looking forward to reading the booklets.

Near enough bought in equal measure. No surprise there...
Yup. So, in all likelihood, about 3,000 PSB diehards left in the UK. The reissues are as good a barometer of die-hardiness as any. I can't see any attraction in these for fair-weather fans. But for the likes of me, well, these are a must-have. Super sold about 16,000 in its first week, didn't it? So almost a fifth of their admirers would be fairly hardcore.

That's a bit confusing. This thread isn't about Super.
This is a song about boys and girls. You hear it playing all over the world.

Which makes me think the Fundamental figures overall might not be correct, or it needs updating

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20682&p=360706&hili ... RY#p360706
Keep in mind though that unlike Nightlife and Release, Fundamental came...

- With a limited edition bonus disc, Fundamentalism
- Hot off an actual Top 10 hit
- At a point in time where Disco 3 and the PopArt singles showed they were on an upward trajectory

These factors would have created a certain 'buzz' or 'urgency' that would have accelerated first week sales, but wouldn't necessarily translate to a significant increase in sales in the long-term.

Retro. :)

That chart looks ridiculous, but good for them!

Sorry off-topic, but that's a bizarre chart. Why all the older albums by Daft Punk & Lady GaGa?
