Re: Closer to Heaven revival in London 2015
cool, what does the programme look like?
Re: Closer to Heaven revival in London 2015
Cool! Did Neil and Chris say anything of interest?
It's nice to see Closer to Heaven back. I wasn't a fan of the 2001 production but I always thought PSB deserved more recognition for it. It was a very brave move at the time.

I'm always waiting...

Why didn't you try to get info about the new álbum?Trixiemix wrote:I was there tonight and sat on the opposite aisle to David Walliams. I spoke to Neil and Chris and they signed my programme........WHAT a night!!

With the exception of Vocal, has the soundtrack been changed/remixed at all?
PS: Can't believe anyone has not yet commented on Mr Lowe's lack of hair..!

Chris: "I don't really like MP3's. It's like having a 1 megapixel digital camera."

I don't think the soundtrack has changed much........but I'm sure the choreography is more modern, although it has been years and I can hardly remember. The boys really seemed to enjoy it last night and 'Straight Dave's' piece on 'For all of us' is tearfully good. BTW it's worth trying on the night for returns, sometimes they have a few.

Incredible show last night. Loved the Union Theatre. Very intimate space and fantastic venue for a quirky musical like this. It was my first time seeing it and honestly I was very impressed with the story and singing. Highlights:
- Dancing was amazing!
- Overall, the singing was very strong
- Billie's Friendly Fire and Vic's Vampires were very good...but Straight Dave's For All of Us was simply stunning
- Shameless was extraordinary
- Straight Dave's character was...WAY GAY. My god.
- The K-Hole bit was spot on, felt like I was in a K-Hole watching them!
- Billie's character was AMAZING. She definitely was probably the strongest performer
- It was great to (finally!) have context with all of the songs I've heard as demos for years
- I was reminded of how great the music was...I need an instrumental version of the soundtrack!
- Mile End Lee's character was perfect...and wow what a body
- Vocal was definitely a great closer!
I was surprised more people didn't stand up at the end of the performance, I thought they deserved a standing ovation. Only about 5-10 of us did that.
Overall it was fantastic. Made me put on the original cast recording this morning and enjoy it in an entirely different way!

Nah, ended up going out dancing afterwards so couldn't carry the programme with me and didn't browse through it. They had cool posters too.wieske wrote:Great review! Thanks for posting btw!
