Premiere of 'A Man From The Future' at BBC Proms - 23/07/14
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-27141789
Will include orchestral versions of their songs plus the Alan Turing piece (about 40 minutes with narrative)
The Proms is usually televised so this could well be shown on the BBC - broadcast on the radio at least!
Just seen much more details on PSB official site (news page)

Re: Premiere of 'A Man From The Future' at BBC Proms - 23/07
I am over the moon! I happen to work at the RAH and just said to one of my colleagues yesterday that there should be a Pet Shop Boys Prom!!! This news is nothing to do with my wish that was spoken out loud, but what fantastic timing!!!
Little did I know about these plans. My more senior colleagues who had advance notice yesterday kept very quiet!
I have been helping a friend today and am on my day off and only checked the BBC Proms website at 2.45pm and started scrolling through the season. I am completely overjoyed and rather moved that Chris and Neil have been given this recognition. I hadn't even checked the OS today before this!!!
Liza Minnelli plays the RAH on 2nd July, and the earlier Prom that evenng has music from Tavener,Bartók and Shostakovich so I think that one is a must too.

I thought the proms was about classical music, not pop music with orchestra. I suppose many other pop artists have been tanking part of it.

Some other pop artists have taken part, but not many. The are even sports, film music, comedy and Dr Who Proms!nickname wrote:I thought the proms was about classical music, not pop music with orchestra. I suppose many other pop artists have been tanking part of it.
I think this concert is a big thumbs up for the Boys' work as composers as well as pop writers.

So we are talking about 20 minutes of song arranged by Angelo Badalamenti, the ones with his collaboration were.
"My October Symphony"
"Only The Wind"
"This Must Be The Place I Waited Years To Leave"
"It couldn't happen here"
More or less 20 minutes.
In my opinion, I think they should have to play "Left to my own devices" and "Jealousy" but they performed these tracks with the BBC Concert Orchestra before.
But a new orchestral version of "Left to my own devices" with new arregments would be epic.

By the way the Pet Shop Boys have been mentioned on the Radio 4 news headlines in connection with the announcement of the Proms season.
