Certifications

#1 Post by Disco. » Wed 04 Sep 2013, 8:25 pm

The BPI has awarded the pet shop boys a few updates on their sales awards.

PopArt has been upgraded from gold to platinum status.

Ultimate has been awarded with a silver certification.

A few more could follow. :D
These sales awards are based purely on sales, not shipments. They are based on the new auto update certification tracking sales data back to 1994 and up to date.

Excellent. So I guess albums like popart do pick up gradual sales from the tours, and Olympic promotions (if Winner didn't put people off!).

Anyone with any passing interest in electronic or pop music should own Popart
in suits or sequins/or twin sets and pearls

'PopArt' should be on the national curriculum.

Great news!

We know that if you live, say, in Turkey and order an item from Amazon.uk, it does not count towards chart calculation. Is the same rule applicable to this certification thing? I have bought at least 15 PSB items in two years from Amazon.uk and I am sure there are a great number of PSB fans in other countries who also use Amazon.uk.

Where do OUR SALES gooooo? Disappear into the blank space? I want them counted for our Boys :(

Anyway, I wish Actually was the best-selling album of all time, like Thriller or the Beatles albums. It is that good.

They all count in the worldwide sales statistic.

A new certification for the boys(sort of) Christmas - The Collection released last year, containing IDOSAC, has been awarded a silver certification for sales of 60,000 copies.
It all counts...

Neil said this week that Introspective is their best selling album - does that show in their certifications?
