Pet Shop Boys, Demo

#1 Post by mole973102 »

Really would love to buy an album of remastered demo versions. Sometimes, like the orchestral arrangements, the rawness I really like. Plus nice to hear how some tracks have progressed. Wish they'd listen to me. :)
Really like these:

Never understood why not made this a b-side:

This is a favourite too:

What are your favourites?

P.S. Bit disappointed not released the Radio 2 concert on CD...
(although I have a good recording of it).

This is my favourite live version of Rent:

(I have recorded the audio of this off the VHS before it went redundant - beautiful)

Like this too:

DVD release please... :)
You gotta have fun!

Rent from the Highlights video is my favourite version as well. Just love the piano riff and the sax solo's.

They thought about releasing an album of demos in the 90s but decided it's the type of thing a band release as a box set at the end of a career.

Makes sense... particularly when there's a tendency to mine the archives for source material on new tracks. Wait until there will be no "new tracks"... then they're more likely to be appreciated when they are released. (Sort of like how people have been more forgiving of New Order's Lost Sirens than they were of Waiting For The Sirens Call... knowing that they were "out-takes" and were the last chance to hear new tracks with Peter Hook still in the line up)

Retro. :)

So when I am old, grey and depressed, at least I'll have these to listen to...
