Getting close to the 50th PSB Single release!

#1 Post by Gary1962 »

  Pet Shop Boys are getting very close to releasing their 50th single.

To date they have released 47 singles (Including the forthcoming single "Leaving") this includes "London", "Beautiful People" and "Integral" but not "Absolutely Fabulous.

I wonder if they are planning a special release??

Why not Absolutely fabulous? Its credited as a Pet Shop Boys release in the Guiness book of hit singles.

Have you included "She's Madonna" in your list of 47?
is is and isnt isnt

You have a point regards "Absolutely Fabulous", i've not included "She's madonna" but if these 2 were included it would mean the next single after "Leaving" would be the 50th ..........Hope it is "Memory Of The Future" or a specially recorded new track, I certainly hope it isn't "Hold On" !!!!

Absolutely fabulous is credited to Absolutely fabulous (alas not a PSB single)
She's Madonna is credited to RW&PSB (alas a PSB single)

Having said that, I wouldn't count either as PSB singles.....

I'm not sure why they get a credit on She's Madonna. It's hardly a duet.

It's basically the same as what happens today with David Guetta or Calvin Harris!

In Private and I'm Not Scared are credited to Dusty Springfield and Eight Wonder. She's Madonna is credited to Robbie Williams with Pet Shop Boys

I'm sure I read that PSB wanted I'm Not Scared to be credited as a solo Patsy Kensit song (cos Eighth Wonder isn't on the track) but they refused.

Of course, today, I Feel Love would be Giorgio Moroder feat. Donna Summer.

So it is looking like "Leaving" is the 47th PSB release. I suspect they will release one further single from "Elysium".

The much mentioned dance album looks set to provide the 50th single release unless they record a special track to mark the occasion.

Talking of the dance album, I wonder if it will be "Introspective 2" an album of longer versions with edits released as singles, not sure with the way the industry is these days whether they would consider doing that but we live in hope.

She's madonna went top 20 so in this climate I'd claim it. It's another top 40 hit in the unbroken run era

My point was its the same concept; backing track written, performed, and produced by PSB. I wasn't going to list them all, they were just examples.

Re: She's Madonna - If it were Pet Shop Boys with Robbie guesting, it'd be a PSB single, but this is a Robbie single with PSB guesting. So not a PSB single.

And you know the 50th 'special release' is going to be a re-recording of West End girls anyway. ;)

You could say the same thing about Dusty Springfield with "What have I done to deserve this?", but I did a search on Amazon.co.uk and found that track on four different Dusty Springfield compilations.
