" Your Early Stuff" is the first dubstep track PSB ever made

Because Chris love dubstep :

" 'I think one of the issues is that pop music is not meant to be made by older people. But I’ve never understood this idea that at some point you’re supposed to stop liking what you did. I still like going to some dubstep club in Shoreditch.' "

Probably the best dubstep dancer :

I think their first dubstep track is Glad all over.
I remember Neil describing the last bit as PSB going dubstep.

spEE..can we get a quick update on your album? Still looking forward to it!

As for dubstep, I have to admit, I'm not even sure what it is. I hear people talking a lot about it these days, and also that it's been around for ever. But I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what it is even after listening to tracks that are supposed dubstep classics. But I've been this way with many of the labels for dance music. What is "house" versus "acid house" versus on and on.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]

They have no more m,ade a dubstep track than they have made a drum and bass track - Betrayed is not drum and bass.

The closest they have come is that break at the end of through the woods, a break that is either sampled or programmed by someone other than Chris

I hate to sound like a 'hipster' but I was there at the beginning. Dubstep was born out of Big Apple records, Croydon, in the late 90s and was a mix of 2 step garage and dub reggae type sonics. I used to go to Forward at Velvet Rooms on Charing Cross Road, the first dubstep night..about 98/99...
Hello my name is Neil Tennant and I'm Chris Lowe and we're of the Pet Shop Boys.

Wow, I had no idea Dubstep was born at Big Apple records. I used to live in Croydon when that opened its doors. Bet no musical genres were born in Beanos LOL

It's not a dubstep track. You'd know about it if it was.

Surprisingly the Italian Renaissance also originated in Croydon.

@ York Minster

I'm so glad of your interest around my project. Thank you.
I've been busy recording some friends lately. it's going to be an album full of collaborations.
They're all italian petheads.
Soon you'll get a teaser on youtube.
Then you'll get the album in late september/early october depending on my label.
I hope I'll be in time to include a cover of some elysium stuff.
Thanks again.

No it didn't, it started when the Music and Video Exchange began to disappear up it's own arse in the mid-90s. They still do well, but there aren't any real bargains to be had any more, and if that bearded 'expert' in the rarities department upstairs would finally f*ck off and return to his Hornby train set, prices for rare stuff (including lots of PSB rare vinyl) will fall drastically.

Then again blame the mugs who pay their now inflated prices.

I thought it maight have been more fitting had they aped their 80's style with this track musically.
you know, instead of a ballad do one of their patented orchestra synth hits and echoey drums 80's synth style songs.

Ha! I know EXACTLY who you mean! The main problem i have with Music and Video Exchange in no matter how rare or common a slab of vinyl is, they theoretically made it worthless by slapping their price sticker on it as they are impossible to remove without ruining the sleeve!
is is and isnt isnt

@ York Minster

A teaser video of the album is coming next week.
Sorry for this delay but I had technical problems.
It's a titanic work for a single person to produce, sing, orchestrate, mix and master an album!
I found out I had some big issues with the mastering process but I am sorting out.
Furthermore my label wants a more dancey album than what I thought and rejected some acoustic arrangements I made.
I had to remove some songs and replace them with new covers from Elysium era.
So please be patient, it's coming out soon!
Thanks for your interest!
