There are very few remixers capable of taking you out of the original's mood and still sound fresh and unique.
Even fewer being able to transport the listener throughout the entire song with a variaty of sonic landscapes and textures, full of love nostalgic melodies embracing your soul until there's nothing else to exhale.

This is the case for Mr Andrew Dawson's HAPPYSAD remix of WINNER.
What an intimidating and atonishing remix he's done!

I don't think I will survive the release of quality compositions like this one much longer!!

first time i heard it..it was a total gooseflesh moment for me ! It wud be cool if there is a alternative edit by him for every track :)
I was born in a hospital room with green walls, the doctor who delivered me wore a green overall, so did the nurses hovering around. So much greenery around, its no wonder that it is my favourite colour !

Finally I downloaded the Winner remix bundle. I like all the remixes, but I agree, the Happy/Sad mix is great. Good work, mr. Dawson.

A fantastic landmark of a mix. Will be up there with my other most listened to mixes of all time

That bit when the drums kick in at 1.20 sounds totally like "Autobahn" !
"It was a dark and stormy night."
"You know what's wrong with your stories? They lack subtlety."
"It was a sort of dark and kind of stormy night."

my favourite part is at 6:40 where the lyrics hand over to the classical instrumentation part.
Neil Tennant has a great voice, Chris Lowe has great silence.

It's really pretty, thanks for the Soundcloud link. I like it. Love the orchestral and string bits, beautiful. Some of the melody reminds me of a slowed-down, stately, "It's Alright" in the beginning, but that's cool. Sounds great. I guess I like the beginning half more than the rest, but it's lovely.

(And the slower pace allows me to hear some of the lyrics more clearly. For ages I mis-heard, "I paid my dues" as, "I hate my juice". "Juice" is a slang for steroids, and I knew that wasn't the proper lyric, but it was funny for a song that, despite their protestations, I yes very strongly associate with this summer's Olympics. Just a funny mis-hearing, that almost sounds almost plausible in a subversive sense. An athlete thinking, "Gee, I hate these injections they're giving me". Ha. :) )

I've given this mix time and I still prefer the original (which isn't saying anything at all, really). Not sure what you're all hearing.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Yet this version is NOT in the 2018 Inner Sanctum set list - it was there in 2016 and was awesome. What a shame they swapped it for 'Opportunites'....
