Winner - full lyrics (
This is the moment
we'll remember every day for the rest of our lives.
Time may rush us,
hurt or love us,
but on this day we have arrived.
It's been a long time coming,
we've been in the running for so long,
but now we're on our way.
Let the ride just take us side by side,
and make us see the world through new eyes every day.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
this is all happening so fast.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
let's enjoy it while it lasts.
I've been a loser,
paid my dues,
I fought my way up from the ground.
Now at this moment
the crowd acclaim us,
well you just listen to that sound.
It's been a long time coming,
we've been in the running for so long,
but now we're on our way.
Let the ride just take us side by side,
and make us see the world through new eyes every day.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
this is all happening so fast.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
let's enjoy it while it lasts.
It took us so long,
we worked so hard.
We came so far just to compete.
And don't forget all
the love and laughter,
now the world is at our feet.
Look at all the times we felt downcast,
didn't think we'd go anywhere just living in the past,
but in that desperation,
you get inspiration.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
this is all happening so fast.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
let's enjoy it all while it lasts.
'Cause you a winner.
Took us so long,
we worked so hard,
because we came far just to compete.
But don't forget all
the love and laughter,
now the world is at our feet.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
this is happening so fast.
You're a winner,
I'm a winner,
enjoy it all while it lasts.
'Cause you a winner.
And yes, it does sound as cheesy and uncreative as the lyrics suggest.
/EDIT: After a couple of listens, I find this verdict rather premature. I guess i was just a bit disappointed bc it's so straightforward, after "Invisible" I expected something more artful.

Re: Winner - full lyrics
Oh yes.
It seems a strange kind of song. It's nothing like what would be on Release. It's a bit more than a ballad. A euphoric ballad?
7.5/10 for me. Probably more of a very good b-side but you can see why it's a single. Love etc aside, probably their most single orientated song they have released first since Can You Forgive Her?

Wow. It's like they set out to write a song specifically for Olympics montages.

Well I guess now I could pretend to be some music business insider who got an exclusive first listen and grab some attention, but I won't. What I did was 100% legal. I even paid for the song. German amazon made it available at midnight german time. So no leaking going on here - unless you consider some ambitious online retailer putting it out before the official radio premiere a leak

I suppose the song goes "in crescendo" with important orchestal arregments. At least, it's the kind of thing you can expect from a song like that.Undertaker wrote:Oh yes.
