Re: Do You Want A New Bitch (Misheard Lyrics - Merged Threads)

When i was a wee nipper it didn't bother me that what I seemed to hear was gibberish, because all adult-type talk made no sense to me anyway.

I thought the backing vocal line "How much do you need" in West End girls was alternately “Oh I want to have you baby” and “our hearts’ big deal

In a West End town, in Denworld [a world of dens]

I’ve had enough of school, and messing round with jerks

If you tell I met you baby
I studied up for so long
Doctor in an attic’s eye
Could have been gone
Like a programmed computer
choose the perfect time

[i.e., if you tell the authorities about my criminal proposals, I will assassinate you. I’ve stayed up late reading about marksmanship, why I almost shot a doctor in the eye through an attic window, and I almost got him, too. Take heed]
well, as if I'd heard of the Sorbonne at age 7.

The city is quiet, too cold to wear cologne
Change friends, you know what I mean

I don’t expect to talk in terms of sex

When I was small I couldn't understand any pop lyrics. I thought they were just shouting raa raa all the time. Mind you I was born in Australia so chances are they were. In 1993 I bought Discography on cassette and for years had no idea what Dusty was singing near the end of What have I done to deserve this?.

We've been dancing 'bout the fires we don't have to take, we got knees, we got a pass-back every night

Misheard lyrics

#94 Post by TallThinMan » Tue 15 Aug 2017, 7:01 pm

There’s probably a 200 page thread from fifteen years ago about this, but really who can be bothered with that?

Anyway, working my way through the reissues and getting to Release reminded me that I’ve always misheard the last verse lyrics in "I get along":

Stuck here with The Shamen
taking my share of the blame
while making
sudden plans that don’t include you

Not sure what Colin and Mr C did to deserve that!

Continuing with I get along

I get along, get along
without you fairly well
I get along fairly well

...it changes the implied meaning a bit.

Neil once said that they never could make out exact lyrics to small parts of Go West, and made a couple of lines up.

Coincidentally, the existing thread was active as recently as two weeks ago: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25620&sid=b8a8804b5 ... e4191aaa05

Hello...

Not PSB, but I think this is the ultimate case of misheard lyrics:

I am really bothered when people duplicate threads, especially intentionally and blatantly like this. It doesn't matter how old the existing thread is and how many pages are there. Relevance and having things organised does matter.

Always remember my friend thought the lyrics to Can you forgive her? were

You drift into the strangest dreams
Of huge pork pies and changing teams

This thread is priceless...literally crying with laughter  :D

I've had many misheard PSB lyrics and I still sing along to them as I originally thought they sounded (when I first heard them) - its quite hard to correct oneself!

One More Chance - 'Push me in the corner and ice cream' was an old favourite

"Trembling ass, your dreams came true..." (Can you forgive her?)
"Dance music at the days go" (Hit music)
"I've been good and I've been mad" (King's Cross) - I've never really heard "bad" there as it's mentioned in the official lyrics.

These are the first and the most unnonsensical that came to my mind. As a non-English speaker and someone who explored many Pet Shop Boys songs at the age of 12, I misheard literally every bit of Neil's lyrics at the time.

It bothers me less, FYI ;)

Sorry if already misheard:

You don't have to be
in "Who's Who"
to know what's what
You don't have to be
a high-flyer
to catch your slut
