Popbitch mailout

#1 Post by Patrick Bateman »

A former editor writes:
"Following your Pet Shop Boys 'only from the
left' photography instructions last week,
in the three years I worked at the Big Issue,
Chris Lowe was the only celebrity EVER to
demand his photos be retouched. Including one
tiny one, where he was way in the background
and out of focus, wearing a hat.

Love the odd example of Pet Shop Diva behaviour.

From the week before....
Photographers at Dour Festival, Belgium, were
only allowed to take photograph of the Pet Shop
Boys from the right of stage. Not the left.

I guess that explains why Neil always stands to the right of Chris when performing. I bet it's the same in the video's as well.

Anyone without anything better to do, could try and find examples that are contrary to the above.

Doesn't that Dutch football manager, Louis Van Haal demand that he's only filmed from one side because if his facial disfigurement?

Given that it's in Popbitch, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that it's a load of rubbish.

I went there.

Is that our right or their right? :D

If true, maybe it was at the insistence of the festival organizers for 'health & safety' reasons?

At many festivals/theatres the press are herded into specific areas.

More Popbitchery:
>> Four to the floor <<
Snow Patrol v Pet Shop Boys

One thing we learned this summer is that
touring bands often telegraph to their
venues what to expect from their gig.
This is what the Pet Shop Boys say about
their followers:

"Age - 20 – 50
Male–Female Ratio - 60% to 40%
For the purposes of profiling the expected
crowd a rating of 1 equals a very quiet/seated
audience where 10 is chaotic - crowd
profile is a 4."

FYI: Snow Patrol identify themselves as a "3".
Prick up your ears.

Ha ha ha ha it's only *that* high because of psb-freak's naked stage-diving.

Sorry to bump an old thread but Neil makes an appearance in Popbitch's latest mailout with this entertaining but slightly sordid story from 2004.

"Neil Tennant from Pet Shop Boys celebrated his 50th birthday in 2004 and threw a big fancy Andy Warhol themed party to celebrate. His good friend, the shoe designer Patrick Cox, came along and brought two boys from the Bel Ami porn stable with him as a "present".

As the night went on, Patrick grew rather attached to the handsome lads himself though – so snuck away from the party with the boys in tow, whisking them off to Shadow Lounge instead.

He presumably thought he'd gotten away with it. Until Tennant, who arrived home at 4am, got in touch to say: "Ahem, I think I'm missing a present..."

Anyone heard that one before?
