I used to be a big fan of Roxette and Belinda Carlisle but I stopped listening to them in mid-90s. Roxette's main vocalist (Marie, RIP, a very talented woman who left us too early) and Belinda also hated the Boys. I don't know why pop-rock chicks (womanly jealousy?) do not like the Boys but this never stopped me from buying their albums at that time.
What source do you have that says Marie Fredriksson (R.I.P.) "hated" Pet Shop Boys? Yes, I was a Roxette fan too. I still listen to them occasionally. Recently they have released the rarities series Bag of Trix.
