I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...
Pet Shop Boys choreographer Lynne Page has made a tutorial video for the Monkey business dance. Neil and Chris invite you to learn the moves and then make your own video of you doing the dance! Post it online using the hashtag #MonkeyBusinessDance.

Probably many of you know that but I didn't know it. Even being a hardcore fan of PSB.
I didn't know Bobby created this song in 1985 for his album: Bobby O and his Banana Republic. The song is Mixed Up World . When you listen to this song you can hear how much it sounds like West End Girls. In...

Bobby O has done some blatant plagiarism in the past. I bought a Divine album a few weeks ago and there's the I Feel Love ripoff Shoot Your Shot, but I didn't know about Love Reaction which is just Blue Monday. When I heard it, I just had to laugh. It's great stuff, mind you. Anyway, in that light...
Years and years (ago)...around the time of Nightlife onwards, I used to meet up with other fans and go to various events... or just chat about the boys, in person (not online!)
Things I remember:
Going to a one off event at a venue in North London (maybe something to do with Home & Dry?)

the day after the final ROH performance in 2017
Pardon, was that 2016 or 2018? ROH performances were in those years but not in 2017.
(In 2017 was RAH, and only one :D ).
Not sure if it is just me or not but, these seem like a very long time ago now. I am losing track of all time. :?
Neil is interviewed in The Guardian after the triumphant best nr 1 achievement.
We recorded three other songs in an hour and a half , he says about what followed immediately after the '84 recording of West End girls. Which three?
There is also mentioning of the very first version of West End girls, the one done in...

On the About CD, Neil mentions on their return from NYC, he played Opportunities & Pet Shop Boys to his chums in Smash Hits. but was too embarrassed to play West End Girls
The next chap, David Bostock says he loved One More Chance
What an amazing re-record. It's just so lush and content - new material like this would suit them

I just noticed, its interesting they left off the patented PSB pad they put on most songs. its got a sort of light analogy pad but not the usual glorious string pad they put on everything. 😊
Further to Neil choosing Flames of Love by Fancy in Literally recently, it is interesting to learn that the Boys appeared in 2010 on this Fancy compilation / celebration

Those last 52 seconds are really Kylie's fault..... :D
Hi,
I think this must have surfaced before, but I haven't found the answer to this. So here I go:
In chronological order, Jealousy is supposed to be the fourth single from Behaviour (right after Where the streets / Seriously ). It appears this way on compilations that list the songs in...

They obviously struggled with the follow up to Being boring and its lowly chart position. I also remember Nervously being announced as the next single at one point in the Smash Hits news pages.
Which PSB songs fit best to summer? I have a go on these seventeen (this number because it fits on the old-fashioned CD format):
- Domino dancing (album version)
- It's alright (single version)
- Bet she's not your girlfriend
- I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing (album version, but the...

The boring Corona-Time ,and a song, which I listened yesterday, since a long, long time, make me thinking about, that this,in my opinion, would be a great Pet shop Boys Cover, but who knows,if they ever would cover a song again.
After 15 years, it seems that there is available a copy of the instrumental versions of Fundamental . These
versions are amazing. Without the voice of Neil, it is possible to hear a lot of arragements and details in each
song that were hidden so far. I´m very impressed with the production of Sodoma...

Wouldn't it be great if during this period of time if the boys released a collection of updated unreleased songs (Similar to how they re-did New Boy and finally released it) maybe as a bonus EP.

Oh, but they are going to release it. Right after Paninaro 2020.
We've already had West End Girls 2020, you wont be laughing when Paninaro 2020 drops :shhh:
Where is it? Bring it back. Stuff like the remixes of Cicero or the Patience of a Saint.... music by Chris Lowe. Make the next albums based on this. It could be called 'Level', or 'Crave'.... :grumble:

Decide had the Chris Lowe bassline.... the other remix had some of his core music.
To expand on the thread title, do you consider West End Sunglasses , the Dub of One more chance , Montreal mixes of West End girls etc. as official PSB releases? It's unusual that they included some of these in the original Annually , while Catalogue only lists the two original singles....

This thread includes passages from the Michael Cowton book and references additional material still owned by Bobby O at the time, including the 28 minute version of Pet Shop Boys.
Equipment used for music production has changed a lot along the PSB career. I'd like this thread to be focused on the medium that PSB have used to store their studio recording masters.
I do not know the precise details yet, but I reckon roughly that would probably be:
Pre-1987-88: Multitrack...

I know Hague was big on his digital recording ('True Faith' being a clear example in 1987). Wonder if 'Please' is listed as ADD because a couple of the songs had analogue origins ('Opportunities', 'Why Don't We Live Together?') because they had original versions recorded before the digital 'Please'...
BlueSwan is a martyr to clinically precise PSB song ranking threads. If only he had the same ruthlessness with his own band's quality control... But I digress.
I've never been able to determine rankings with the pinpoint accuracy and certainty required of such an endeavour, simply because the...

Hey, I sometimes tend to think that Keyan's permanent ecstasy mix of We all feel better in the dark is the best remix of a PSB song ever. I mean, it's 15 min 40 sec long and combines all of the remixes of WAFB in seamless smooth way. And may I remind you, it's 15 min 40 sec long.

Clearly one of their best is the infamous PSB Symphonic Mix of 'I'm In Love With a German Filmstar' by Sam Taylor Woods. Remember this kinda acid bass line which eventually leads to the 'Leben Ohne Liebe Kannst Du Nicht' finale?!

I will make videos of CDs playing in a CD player soon.
...and I will make videos of mp3s playing in an iPod or Zune (!)
I thought that All Over the World also features I love you because that part of the song started to spin around my head but I checked and saw it was I want you . More or less isn't it the same thing? :D
Main album tracks only -
how many songs per album do you think spoil its ‘cohesiveness’ (or maybe you just dislike?) and would opt to remove, thus ‘improving’ the overall album?
If anything, The dictator decides is out of place on Super, not that I care about that album.
And I think In denial, being a character-driven musical-song, is very much out of place on Nightlife, as is Boy strange, for sonical reasons.
Hm, sometimes I feel that Your funny uncle should've been saved for Behaviour. Perhaps fleshed out with a minute or so of instrumental or a beat and put on after Being Boring.

I mean what is meant to be so special about The Lost Room as opposed to any other unreleased track?
I should state that I’m a teetotaller so that might explain my ambivalent attitude
Wow! Pretty bad quality, but I had no idea these existed.

It's a shame there's never been a good quality recording of either Wembley or Dodger Stadium released or leaked. I'm guessing that the Dodger gig is in an archive somewhere, similar to the DM gig that same day (taken from in house video I believe)
Does anyone know anything about this? It was described in Literally as ; but what set up was it? Performance? Sounds not, like far more stripped down. - another potential gig for a live box set of unique gigs .. they even played Paninaro and Occupy my mind!

I thought I was going to listen through some of the Price-material. Turns out I put on Super from start to end and this time I even liked Happiness a lot. I absolutely love Super. It’s more consistent than Electric although it doesn’t quite reach its dizzy heights. They are now both in my top 5 albums. The said can’t be said for “Hotspot” which is not the great thing many people are wittering on about. “Hoping for a Miracle” is exceptional. “Willo...

Or just stay resident in the UK, and pay taxes to fund the NHS, which PSB do and many “synth pop bands” who were as big as them do not. A charity single would be a lovely gesture, but decades of paying into the system and helping to fund services is more welcome.
It seems very popular right now for major artists to dig in to their video archives and upload to YouTube previously unreleased or very rare live concert films. Pink Floyd, Genesis, OMD and Radiohead, to name a few, have already or will be releasing content to YouTube.
So it got me thinking, this...

It's taken over 30 years for ICHH to appear on dvd, and that's only because someone else wanted to do it. I don't hold out any hope for MCMLXXIX ever appearing on anything other than VHS and YouTube. There were fan made DVDs of Discovery at the turn of the century, obviously ripped from the...
Listening to these two David Jackson remixes of IDW (which are both choice!) reminds me of TBWCKHCO, both in sound and in spirit (one being the polar opposite of the other, obv.). Very strange trailer. Was it some comedy movie? Some surreal thing? I have never care about becoming familiar with this production as it seemed to be completely patchy and weird in a bad way. Perhaps now I could try to fix this initial prejudice.
My Wife and daughter were watching BGT tonight( I think they recorded it from yesterday). Anyway I was in an adjoining room and heard It’s a Sin in the background. It turns out a dance group used it for an act.
Always pleasant to hear a Psb tune even in a different form.

The Left to My Own Devices video is utter garbage imho. It was an interesting concept but staring up at Neil and Chris' crotches through a clear perspex floor isnt my idea of music video greatness.

I guess it was exactly the same as the CD, apart from lots and lots of bird sounds over the top? I was hoping for something a little more live, given the mention of performers, however anything promoting them and a little bit different is all good :-)
