That's Maggie's smack of firm government.

Anyway, them covering Break for Love during the Nightlife epoch shows just how stretched they were by the musical. It makes a Village People pastiche seem inspired.

Generally speaking PSB usually open their albums with a stunner, even if this haven't really been the case over the last few albums. However, if there's one thing you can critisize PSB for, then it's for not always closing up properly. I have always believed that you should close an album with a st...

Neil's got a great pop voice but like so many great pop singers, he can't actually sing. Choosing to cover tracks which rely on big black soulful vocals is really not advisable.

Yes. How about an album of synth-pop classics as re-interpreted by Jay Jopling?

Oh my God, can't compare to Neil's vocals, ever!! This is where I can notice so clearly why his voice is so amazing. I'm sorry but the orginal Raze track is the definitive version. Similarly Sterling Void's It's Alright is the best version of the track although PSB's single mix is more of a pop son...

I always feel that Heart was popular because it was a nice video. Heart was popular because they were right at the end of their Imperial phase and because the single mix is so bloody awesome. It was the song that made me a hardcore fan (being more into football than pop until then, although I'd alw...

I think what ticks me off about the state of the charts is the complacency by buyers who should know better who settle and stand for it. Whichever way you want to dress it up the likes of Duffy, Amy and Stickleback are just bland cliched music, inoffensive enough to warrant safe playlisting. It's s...

Re: Lead Singles Vs. Lead Single....

Except Duffy doesn't sound anything like Dusty, she's more like early Lulu crossed with Ronnie Spector - but I see your point. Yes, I think Amy Winehouse has opened the door to many artists like Duffy. I find it refreshing and better than the (so called) RnB crap. Yes, it's retro but so am I! :) I ...

Yes, I know. I don't understand the appeal of retro pap like her. Why not listen to Dusty instead? She's only popular because of Amy Winehouse anyway.

Re: Lead Singles Vs. Lead Single....

It's a nice analysis but unfortunately the market has changed and record companies are more and more reluctant to release singles because in the vast majority of cases they make a loss. Very few acts these days, even successful ones, release more than one single before the album. The death of the s...

1. The single is dead.

2. The casual fan couldn't care less about PSB.

3. It doesn't matter anyway.

Their best hope of having a big hit at the moment is re-inventing themselves as a retro female white soul singer and Neil getting a beehive.

God willing is pretty pointless. The Resurrectionist and Fugitive are genius songs but uphold the PSB tradition of sublime B-sides/hidden tracks. Therefore I vote to restore God willing to its full glory with the call to 'prayer', open the album with it and choose to dispatch In private to the campe...
