Re: Australian News Roundup

That's a great result.

JB hifi only ordered one vinyl copy for the main Brisbane store. One copy! I picked up a copy from an out of town store in the end. I was the second one they'd sold. Plenty of cds around though. Even bagged a promo poster.

Re: "SUPER" - album reviewed by forum members

I've only listened twice without dusturbances, and one of these was a dog walk so maybe I should come back later? However, I'm getting, fun, fresh, catchy, modern, free, short, light, clever. It's quite arty? I'm clearly no wordsmith but I just wanted to make a positive comment. I've enjoyed reading...

Re: "In Bits" is a mini masterpiece!!!

I prefer One Hit Wonder. The rhyming thing is strange. Why 'we never saw eye to eye' not just 'never saw eye to eye' which could have fitted? It does feel deliberate but it jars and distracts me. Same in TPK a bit, which by the way i now love. It has really grown on me, worthy first single.

Re: The Pop Kids (Review) - SPOILER

It's ironic they're thought of as ironic I guess. How about saying the lyrics on Electric are more sparse and less observational than previous albums? However, we've still had Love is a bourgeois construct and Invisible on Elysium - lyrical psb gems surely? Maybe the trend to sparse helps with the t...

Re: Super - Track-by-Track Review (SPOILERS)

On balance, the reviews read encouragingly to me. My own personal issue at the moment, hopefully without sounding like a t***, is that since January I've been immersing myself pretty helplessly and almost exclusively in the Bowie catalogue, deviating only as far as Scott Walker (i'm exaggerating but...

Re: Because they are the PET Shop Boys - Pedigree attitude

Interesting that Chris picked Sweet Thing for his favourite Bowie track, a song I've always presumed was about rent boys. Very dark anyway. He would have been about 16 wouldn't he when diamond dogs came out?

Re: Inner Sanctum

I imagine one of the main reasons they've released this track first as a "teaser" is that it sounds really good as the name for their residency at the Royal Opera House. This seems very likely to me. Regardless, it doesn't seem likely that this track would have been released first if it w...

Re: Inner Sanctum

I see production as anything after the song is written. It includes arrangement. Like others I'm not sure how much I like the complex production, really simple melody, few lyrics approach. I think i prefer simple production, middling melody, complex lyrics. This is nuts, but I like to know they did ...
