Re: Your latest PSB item

A sealed (well, not anymore) copy of the US 3x12" Introspective promo with Shep Pettibone mixes. Was on my want list for years.

Re: Leaving | The Other Mixes

Then Elysium in Japan has an extra track. WHY??? It has to do with a marketing peculiarity unique to foreign artists selling their music in Japan. In Japan, the prices for CDs are fixed (and they aren't cheap!), much like how books are in most parts of the world. The price is printed right on the o...

Re: Leaving 12" Vinyl Tracklist

Honestly, I very rarely have cause to complain about the quality of new vinyl pressings, and when I do then 99 per cent of the time they're US pressings. Britain and Europe seem to have kept up with demand; I'm not sure how. Two reasons: First, the quality of vinyl produced by the UK and Europe was...

Re: Leaving 12" Vinyl Tracklist

I stand corrected. I'm listening to the "Miracles" 12 inch. And it sounds as good as the "Leaving" 12 inch, apart from a constant hiss every other second but which is only noticeable in silent passages. All in all the sound is very crisp and even the "s" sounds are not as distorted as on "Leaving"....

Re: Leaving 12" Vinyl Tracklist

Have to disagree there. The weight of the vinyl doesn't have any effect on the sound quality, it just makes it a bit more durable to warps, chips, etc. Correct. Their best sounding records are probably the earliest ones, which are the thinnest pressings (because EMI wanted people to start buying CD...

Yes, I did the discogs submission for the Canadian version. The 1-disc version is made locally. The 2CD version is likely an import (I haven't seen it yet; ordered the Japanese 2-disc version).

Agreed. Horrible, just horrible. Aural torture. Makes you wonder just how incredibly awesome the party drugs must have been at the time for anyone to enjoy it.

Re: elysium 2 disc pack including instrumental

There's a cheap music program that will extract vocals from a full track + its instrumental. At least one forum member here used it and extracted a couple of Neil vocals a couple of years ago. These don't work very well in practice though. All they can do is take out or isolate what is panned centr...

Re: 'Elysium' 12" vinyl release

Because aac and mp3 are bloody good audio codecs that, despite compressing the hell out of the audio data, still manage to fool the ears of the vast majority of listeners. Agreed. AAC, in particular, is fantastic as lossy audio goes. It kills me when people seek out 320kbps MP3s because the iTunes ...

Just download a free VST limiter and smash away all those pesky dynamics, until you're sure that there's no more than 3dB of dynamic range. Instant modern remastered sound! You can do it to any CD.

Re: I hope we get an Elysium Relentless

Relentless and Etc are by far the best "companion" discs, worthy of being individual albums themselves.

Re: Vinyl records! Any chance of album reissues?

What are the chances do you think of the early PSB albums ever being re-released and repackaged on heavyweight vinyl? Heavy vinyl doesn't mean better sound quality though... it just means heavier vinyl, and maybe less likely to warp. More important is the mastering and consistency of the pressing, ...

Re: elysium 2 disc pack including instrumental

Actually, he's right, technically if you have the album version and the instrumental version, you can use those to create an acapella version. In theory, if you invert the phase on the instrumental and lay it on top of the version with vocals, the instrumental tracks should cancel each other out an...
