Re: Thursday in at #40 in the UK midweek charts

Has anyone else noticed that Example is nowhere involved with the promotion of the single? It's not even mentioned on his Facebook page. I'm not on twitter, but on his Twitter feed, he retweeted the Boys' promotional tweet.

Re: PSB books

I pitched a book on the PSBs a few years ago to a publisher and didn't get a response. That said, very recently an essay I wrote on the PSBs for an edited collection of essays has just been accepted for publication. I am not sure what the timeline is, but it was given an enthusiastic acceptance. It'...

Re: Rating: "Fluorescent"

"Florescent" was conceived when "The Former Enfant Terrible" mated with "Paninaro" on the couch while the "Minimal" video was playing.

Re: The troumpet sound of "Suburbia"

I was listening to Please for the first time in ages the other day and was really struck by the horns (or horn sounds) throughout the record; not in every song, but they're there and essential to the track--Tonight is Forever, for example. This is one of the sounds they got away from, with a few exc...

It always comes as a surprise seems to me to fit that description. So does It Couldn't happen here.

Re: the PSB 2013 (Electric) tour discussion

Is it fair to say that the US tour is kind of unlikely at this point?

Re: Parlophone

Looking at the new record label's website, I notice Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds there. I like Nick Cave, though I haven't bought the new record yet; however, I have been very, very impressed with the media campaign here in the US, the tour promotion, and the amount of press in the form of reviews an...

Re: Fundamental vs. Yes and Elysium

Isn't it true that Neil and Chris have always had to battle ageism in some way, even during the "imperial" phase?

Re: Pet Shop Boys and Brian Eno

As I recall, they came (as they did with Dawson) with a bunch of songs written, and he only works with artists in the writing process, as said above. But I seem to remember that there was an interview with Eno where it sounded as if they spent some time messing around in the studio, and was interest...

Re: Neil Tennant reads a chapter in the "Moby Dick" Big Read

But will all of this underscore the necessity to read Moby-Dick as a grand statement about the death of God in America?

Undertaker wrote:There is quite a hush over Elysium. Hardly any news, interviews etc, unlike the previous two albums that were common knowledge. Quite surprising. It's like the Mason's. Nobody knows about it but us chosen few.
Well, there is a hermetic aspect to the PSB world, after all.

Re: The "Us US fans want to see PSB on primetime TV" tread

They were on the Regis show and played Home and Dry, if I remember, too. I remember there was a really awful note played in there, as if to remind those few of us paying attention that something is not entirely recorded.

Re: RATE WINNER

I hear Dawson on this more than "Invisible." It reminds me of that other song he produced--the big, big hit, at least in the US--"We Are Young." It's a better song than "We Are Young," but not as affective and dramatic, probably because Neil comes off as deadpan even wh...

Re: PSB Incidental

Well, I think Bortz is particularly mean-spirited. It was big news a week or so ago that he is retiring after the election, so he can kind of do what he wants.
